Stonecrest Family Dentistry - First visit, the front staff has already made a lasting impression

I took two of my kids here today - one did okay and the other did not. The one that did well had a…read moredecent 6 month exam. She had X-rays done (no cavities, yippie!) and given tips on how to get that one last baby tooth to come out. She also got a referral for an orthodontist. I didn't get to see much of her visit because I sat in with my younger child. With my younger child, he had X-rays done. Nothing too exciting there. I think they were called bite wing X-rays and they were done in the exam room. Simple enough. They can pull the X-rays up in the exam room. That seems pretty common for most dental offices. The cleaning and oral exam never happened however because my son just wasn't having it. He got upset and started getting tearful as well as covered his mouth. Here's where I dropped my review to 2 stars as I've continued on with this review - while I appreciated the quickness the dentist was to recognize my son's distress, he didn't attempt to try to relate to him or really talk to him. Instead he told me he would refer my son out to a pediatric dentist and gave me the reasons why. Sure, I could understand his reasoning and did not object whatsoever. I could also see that as a family dentistry, they would specialize in the fully or maybe even mostly cooperative pediatric patient. While I appreciate not traumatizing a child (and maybe even the parent) more, maybe mention that, too. Some parents might not recognize this and only understand this as being brushed off. Also, as I mentioned before, the cleaning and oral exam for my son never happened. However, looking at the "Statement of Services Rendered," I saw that my son has a charged for $43 for a "Limited oral evaluation." I'm not sure what part of this is true as I never saw any part of an oral evaluation occur. I did see readings of the X-ray occur as I was in the room and he explained areas of teeth he was looking at. But when I compare his charge to my daughter's charge of "comprehensive oral evaluation" also for $43, it seems concerning since she had a full dental exam. Further, the other dentist that saw my daughter was not wearing gloves when he was pointing out teeth and showing areas of concern (a baby tooth, etc). While I did not observe him touch her mouth or teeth without gloves on and he was using tools to point out her teeth while I was in the room, isn't it standard practice to be wearing gloves when looking in a patient's mouth? My daughter did inform me he was wearing gloves before because the gloves smelled gross. Anyway, if I could have given stars for overall staff friendliness, I would have given 5 stars as the staff was so nice. One at the front desk, Chandra, maybe(?) was very nice and I appreciated her help tremendously with finding a pediatric dentist for my son. Now I need to call and investigate this "limited oral evaluation" charge.

Confession: I stress about going to the dentist. I had a horrible experience at a different…read morepractice which made me avoid all dentists for a good three years. I was searching for a new one and Dr. Cabana came up on my insurance list of dentists and it was right down the road from my house. The office is fairly new. It's in one of the strip mall s in front of the Tega Cay Walmart. It looks a little small, but there's enough space since it's one dentist at this office. Everyone is super friendly at this office, from check-in to check-out everyone smiles. Also I've never had to wait less than five minutes. For appointments, I like the text reminders. First thing morning and late afternoon appointments fill up fast, but I haven't had a problem with scheduling them far in advance. For cleanings, they take their time with you. The hygienist always asks about any trouble spots or problems and then proceeds with x-rays and the cleaning. I like that x-rays are done at the chair. This office has music playing along with ocean noises. There's no little TV's but I never liked those previous offices. Dr Cabana will then check all of the previous work and look at any trouble spots. On my first visit, I did have a cavity and had to get a filling. Remember that bad experience, it was during a filling. I had a lot of anxiety and started crying. Here they calmed me down, made sure I was completely numb before starting. When they did start, they explained every step and made sure I was okay. I got through it and very much appreciate Dr. Cabana's bedside manner. He even fixed my bite from the previous dentist's work that was causing pain. Needless to say I am no longer afraid of the dentist and have made my six-month exams for about 2-3 years now. My husband also goes here. I highly recommend Stonecrest Family Dentistry. The care and service is top-notch.

From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel completely at ease. The office is modern, spotless, and welcoming -- you can tell patient comfort is a top priority here. Dr. Juthani is not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also genuinely caring. He took the time to explain everything in detail, answered all my questions, and made sure I felt comfortable every step of the way. I never felt rushed, and I truly appreciated how thorough and gentle he was during my exam and treatment. What stood out the most was the personal attention and professionalism from the entire team. Scheduling was easy, I never had to wait long, and the follow-up care was top-notch. It's rare to find a dentist who combines this level of clinical excellence with such a warm and friendly approach. If you're looking for a dental office where you'll be treated like family and receive outstanding care, look no further than Lakeshire Dental. Dr. Juthani and his team have earned my trust -- and my 5 stars!

You need to seriously think about why here has only one star. And the only reason it even has one…read morestar is because it's not possible to give zero. They are far from professional. You might trust this place by looking at its website and exterior or interior. I did too. There's a clear discrepancy between the website's image and the actual experience. During the treatment, while the patient was lying down, it was highly inappropriate for the assistant and the dentist to keep chatting, mixing in Spanish, and laughing, as they were not fully focused on their work. I shouldn't have received the treatment. I get thorough teeth cleanings twice a year, and six months ago, no cavities were found. But the owner suddenly changed, and without taking any X-rays, he suddenly discovered cavities. If you've ever been treated by a professional dentist, you would immediately notice how unprofessional this dentist's treatment approach is. They need to show a more professional attitude. And even the California DMV employees are probably friendlier than the receptionists here.

They remember my dye allergy every single time I come into the practice. Which says a lot because most pharmacies can't even remember it when I get my prescriptions filled. I was ok waiting the 3 months as a first time patient to get on the list for what seemed like a great dentistry practice. Prior to scheduling my first appointment I spoke extensively with the staff about what should be expected during my first visit and had my records (including all xrays) transferred to Jasper. A handful of days ago I received a text reminding me my visit was coming up and gave Jasper a call to confirm they received my records and xrays to which they confirmed, yes. It came as a surprise to me today, during my first visit while I'm sitting in the examination chair, that I find out that the Jasper Dentistry practice requires a full set of 18 xrays (which insurance only allows every 3 years). They had my full mouth panorama xrays from my previous dentist but they refused to accept them. Not only was it embarrassing, but I waisted scheduled time away from work as well as 3 months waiting in line to become a patient. My advise for Dr. Jasper and her practice to please have your staff communicate to new patents the actual requirement's to becoming a patient of your practice. By being caught off guard at the last second I felt entrapped and my trust was lost. There was ample opportunity for this requirement to be communicated. By not being told the real truth I felt I was being lied to and is that how any new patient wants to feel. The staff acted professional as they were understanding of my concern but insisted there was nothing that can be done as my next eligible panorama xray will be in 2023. I do hope to rebook in 3 years when I become eligible or perhaps they reconsider preforming a basic exam utilizing my current xrays, but until then I'll have to locate a new practice that accepts other office xrays.
