People at the desk are really nice and accommodating, make the process easy to get checked in and off to a lane. Merchandise and other accessories seemed on par with other places I've been. Just tried to purchase 9mm ball ammo to use in qualifying as a retired law enforcement officer. The smug young man working at Total Defense told me the ammo is not sold to walk out the door, but only with a range rental. When I asked why, he responded with a laugh, "Can't run a range without ammo!" Poor customer service and flawed business model. This makes it clear Total Defense simply wants to mark its ammo up. I train to stay proficient and shoot every month, but will be giving Total Defense a miss from now on. read more

Just took the CCW class. Half of it was spend in a time share-like presentation for legal defense companies. Sitting through it, I actually googled that you can take the class online and just show up for the range time. Takes about 2.5 hrs. That's what I'm doing next time. I have been going to total defense for about 3 months now. I have had a great experience each time. So great that I was contemplating joining the range. I planed on shooting regularly here due to the proximity to my home. It just so happened that my wonderful wife found a range membership coupon making the whole thing a no brainer for me. Each time after joining was easy and no waiting was nessacary. I would think that at peak times they could be much busier and a wait to get a shooting lane could be required. I would recommend this range to anyone in the area looking for a nice indoor range with most of the amenities you would require such as gun rental, ammo and training. read more

Just completed the CCW course here. Fair pricing, great presentation. Opportunity to use rental with shells and even obtain certification for my Non-resident Florida to expand my states for permit to carry. Efficient use of time and was IN/OUT in less than 4 hours. Nice range, but the customer service was terrible. I called twice, once to check rental inventory and again to make an appointment to use my groupon for range time. They were rude both times and the second time the female range officer rudely asked if I had experience and acted annoyed that she had to make an appointment. When we arrived she was rude and condescending while she checked the ammo we had brought to shoot, and when we had finished shooting, I brought my rental back up to get my ID back and she ignored me for a good 5 minutes while another customer was looking at magazines for his handgun. Not even an "I'll be right with you". She walked past me 3-4 times before another employee finally asked if I was being helped. Definitely won't go back. The prices aren't low enough to deal with that kind of service. The second star is only for the range. read more

Came here because I bought a Groupon. Staff is super friendly and they have a decent selection of gun for sale.

The store and range are in really good condition and clean. That's about the only good part... My friend was in the next lane to me target shooting the overhead nylon string came undone. They ended up charging him $25 to replace the string and said it's because my friend took down a lane. We were the only two there most of the time. At no point did they run the risk of filling all the lanes. Crap like the happens it's the cost of doing/having a business. Never ran into an issue like this or anything else that may "break" would Bills gun range, target sports in Rogers, or any other range charge a customer. Nope!! Also read a Facebook review talking about the gossip queen that's true except there are gossip kings! Went to grab a new target the manager and cashier were having a little gossip session with the manger storming off barking about checking the tape! BTW, they won't let you check the tape for yourself. Hmmm wonder why! Federal ammunition family avoid this place for many reason, but they also had a little knock about our company when they learned I worked there. To close this out many comments about the high cost of products that is so true. Same holster is $15 cheaper at cabelas. I hate to rag on small businesses but at the same time take some pride, suck up the cost of doing business, and quit with the high school gossip sessions about your customers! read more

We had a Groupon for a shooting package for two. A good activity for for a date :) The package included targets, two 9 mil. handguns and 2 boxes of bullets. I was a little shocked that they didn't make sure that we knew how to handle a gun first, so when they asked if Id shot a handgun before and I said yes, they went on trust alone. I've had many years of experience, but the indoor shooting range setting was a bit different than I'm used to. It's VERY loud, so the ear protection is an absolute must. We did a lot of signing to each other, because we couldn't hear each other at all. I would definitely do this again! read more

I took the permit to carry class here. Dan did a good job going over key things pertaining to lawfully carrying a firearm. He used real-world situations and discussed real-world consequences to actions taken or not taken while carrying a firearm. Both he and the rest of the team there demonstrated exceptional competence in their teaching. I feel as if I were given the knowledge I need to succeed. Furthermore, I feel as if I could call over and ask if I have any questions that come up in the future. All in all, exceptional training! read more

This place is a joke. You pay for a membership and it gives you no real benefits except a free target. You can't shoot until 10:30AM on a Saturday morning? Opens at 9AM? Can only shoot brass casing ammo. How about opening a lane for non brass ammo. The customer service sucks. These people only care about cash flow of the business from CC classes and selling memberships. Once they get your money the customer/member is of no value to them. My membership is almost up and will not be renewing here. Also looking for a new weapon, will not buy from here. Save your money and time, find a business that appreciates their paying customers and members. read more

I took the permit to carry class there on April 9. For me, it was for a renewal. It was my 6th time in a carry class, as I used to need to take one every year for my work. The range was excellent. Very efficient and safe. The classroom portion was pleasant and entertaining. Kurt did a good job of keeping the class moving and interesting. But, due to the gravity of the subject, I am not able to give stars for entertainment. The class was full of errors and omissions. The list of requirements for justification of lethal force was never presented. Some situations were presented and discussed. But, the four determining situations for the justification of lethal force were never presented. For me, that was huge. We were given flat out misinformation on securing a weapon on school parking lot. Even though I brought it to Kurt's attention, he assured us that it was a felony. The fact is that permit holders are exempted for that purpose. I am also convinced that his interpretation of "constructive possession" in a motor vehicle is incorrect. There was not a single printed sheet issued to the class for future reference. All in all, I think the students missed out on proper preparation for the Permit to Carry. read more

Assortment of tactical stuff and weaponry is decent and they are easy to work with in regards to transfers. New clean range too. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. I'll be back. My wife and I took the class to obtain our MN Permit to Carry. They often have a Groupon for this class. We are novices with pistols and they made us feel comfortable and safe with shooting a hand gun. The class was well done and we have been back to shoot at the range. Still trying out different guns before making a purchase. We will likely purchase our guns from them, as they have reasonable prices and excellent knowledge of guns. Come in over weekday lunch 11-2 and range time is half off. We luckily discovered this sweet deal. read more
