I stopped by with my friend when we were in Vienna for a few days at the beginning of the month, because we were trying to visit shops and restaurants with history and character while we were in the city. The store is beautiful, and their products are really finely crafted and worth the price tags. Unfortunately, the customer service was pretty ... awkward? A store clerk followed us from room to room. It felt like we were being monitored, like she thought we were going to shoplift. I know there are some cultural differences between the US and Austria. Maybe this was her way of being helpful, being nearby in case we had questions or wanted to try something on. Unfortunately, it just made us itchy to get out of the store. We took a walk around but were in and out pretty quickly. Still, worth a stop if you're interesting in buying some traditional Austrian clothing while you're visiting Vienna.

I shopped around some of the Dirndl/ Lederhosen stores in Vienna and found Danielas to have better pricing. I was really surprised by the personal attention of the shopkeeper and her honest opinion on what fit (and what just doesn't). Although the store is rather small she has a nice selection. I just wish they would have a larger mens department. Definitely recommend that store for Traditional Austrian clothing.

The one souvenir I was set on buying for this Germany/Austria trip was an authentic dirndl. I…read morewanted something I could make use of back in the US that didn't just take up space, and I knew I was gonna have to fork over some moolah for a nice one. We spent a decent amount of our time in Vienna shopping, and I was able to hit a few stores to find the perfect dirndl. The first two we stopped in were way above the price point I was aiming for--I'm talking upwards of €1000 for the cheapest full outfits--so we had to quickly come up with excuses to gtfo of there. Then we came upon this store, where you can expect to pay €300-700 for a full outfit, and this was more of what I was expecting. I spent over an hour in here, shopping for the perfect dress, apron, blouse, pumps, bra, and even necklace. It's serious business! Gotta find the right colors and sizes in everything--and there's definitely a specific fit you are ideally ending up with. Luckily this place has a ton of options that are great quality for a decent price. A range of colors and lots of styles. Someone at another store said they recommended I go with blue items to match my eyes, but I was already set on green (plus my eyes have some green too)! I was torn between a more expensive green outfit and the one I went with, which was about €100 cheaper. There were a few dressing rooms and luckily the other store patrons were patient and also taking these decisions very seriously, but you know who wasn't patient? The majority of the people working here. Not only were they mostly not patient, they also mostly weren't helpful. I get it, it's Oktoberfest and you have a lot of customers and you're just trying to make it through the day or whatever, but like why did you choose to work in this type of store, in this type of area, if you hate it? So hopefully these people don't work here anymore by the time you arrive to decide on one of the most iconic outfits you will ever own, but if they do, just ignore them and take your sweet-ass time. Treat yoself!

The sales person was very helpful but surely not pushy. A lovely experience all around. I only wish I had also purchased that raspberry blazer.

Also, they have the best used trachten (traditional clothes) in the city. My two dirndls cost about 10euro each but much more beautiful ones can be had for under 40. Lots of traditional tops, skirts, belts, hats, etc to take home as great souvenirs. I love that they have posters around the shop to show you how to put an Austrian outfit together. If you are able to find one of the Salzburg-made jackets here in your size... grab it! The tailoring is impeccable and they are sold new downtown for up to 50 times the price! Can't stop my review without mentioning they are supporting an excellent cause.
