Any time in any country whether it's your first time or not, you have to rely on others for recommendations. The night clerk politely directed us to Torta El Rey. El Rey? I immediately had flashbacks to From Dusk to Dawn with Clooney and Tarantino. No Vamps here but what you'll find is a 24 hr taco, torta and burrito place with a decor from In and Out. The White walls with red neon signage with not an empty table in sight was just what 4 weary travelers needed. We quickly got an empty table and sent the ladies to order. The order came quickly and without a lot of fanfare but that's ok at 15 pesos a taco less than a $1 it is what it is. The tacos were superb. I would recommend the Lengua tacos. ( beef tongue ) if you have sampled these in the states, there's no comparison. The tacos al pastor with good as well. There's plenty of sauces and complements at the table. Overall it's safe, traveller friendly and the price is very affordable. Last note. We sampled the Torta Ahogata with chicken. The Torta Ahogada is a local speciality but in this case skip it. read more
