Before choosing Studio Italia I sampled a few other schools around Rome. I was looking for a school…read morewith teachers who were enthusiastic, creative, knowledgeable, patient, and FUN! I found all those things here and more.
Not only did I find a school where the teachers seem to really enjoy their work, I found friends. Because of S.I. I have met people of all ages from all over the world. We all have different backgrounds and experiences in life but we all have something in common; the desire to learn Italian. We struggle through the verb tenses and at the end of the day we gather together to celebrate our progress.
S.I. does a great job fostering a community at our school. They help with finding housing, offer events after class like watching Italian movies together, meeting for wine at a local wine bar, touring cool areas of Rome, and my favorite...COOKING classes! There's also a Facebook page where students can make plans for weekend trips, festivals, etc. So, even if you come to Rome alone, as a student here you don't have to be lonely!
The classes are never boring. The teachers use several textbooks, music, audio exercises, videos, and games. When I came to class the 1st time, the only Italian words I knew were, "Ciao!" and "Grazie!" Of those two, I only pronounced one correctly! Now, I understand much more than I can articulate but that's my fault. I'm a terrible student and my Roman boyfriend only speaks to me in English. Regardless, every Italian word I know (except cuss words) I learned here!
Whether you're looking for a week or several months of classes, it's certain to be a positive experience!
