Came here for lunch yesterday. And got the lunch special. Such a great deal! You get to pick soup of the day or salad, one appetizer, an entree' and get to pick tea, coffee or juice. Got the babaganoush, patlican soslu and tabouleh. They were all good just wished the tabouleh had more taste to it, it was dry. Then for entree' got adana kebab, doner and shish kebab were all good. Was little bummed out that there only 4 shish kebab. They should have one of the following rice or bulgar with vegetables instead of rice and bulgar with entree'. Other then that the food was good. Service quality is 2 out of 5. -Soslu Patlican - eggplant with tomato sauce: you cant really taste the eggplant because they used a lot of red pepper, and tasted like pepper with tomato sauce. -Coban Salad was okay. -Midye Dolma-Stuffed Mussels, it was just a waste of $10. Tasted terrible!! -baby lamb shish was really good, I think it was the best between things we ordered. -Mixed grill comes with kofte, adana, chicken shish, shish kebab and doner/gyro. Never been for dinner. Love their lunch special for 13 bucks. The exterior does not look impressive. In fact one of the exterior decorations seem to be broken. But stepping in, you feel like you are in Turkey. Lovingly decorated and well maintained - no dust on their fanciful ornaments. The lunch special is such a steal - 13 for the choice of soup or salad, a cold mezze, entree, and coffee or tea. I always get the lentil soup and mop with remains with their delicious bread. Wonder if the bread is from Taksin across the street. Love love their hummus, tabbouleh seemed to have a lot too much herbs, not much wheat germ. Still refreshing and nice. The service started out great, very attentive staff but as it started to get busy, we were being rushed to finish eating to give up our table to other customers. It's near impossible to get food at this price at such a great quality! I'm still a regular here after so many years and honestly you're missing out if you don't come at least once. I love the Lebni and Chicken Kebab during the lunch special! A group of friends and I tried different options on the dessert menu recently and the pineapple sorbet is absolutely amazing. It's very creamy and the presentation is so cute since it comes in a real, half carved pineapple. While I've had run-ins with customer service here in the past, the manager is incredibly friendly and willing to evenly communicate with the customer. A few issues shouldn't spoil the whole experience! They still have amazing food and overall friendly customer-service. I'll definitely keep coming! read more

I had lunch here with a friend who is a regular at this establishment. I was very impressed with both the food quality, as well as the service, and the authentic Turkish decor. I enjoy Turkish and other types of Middle Eastern food; Israeli, Lebanese, Greek, etc. This place exceeded all of my expectations. We started with hummus, which was creamy, garlicky, and aa good as I have ever had. Even my friend's green salad looked very appetizing, and was perfectly dressed. I am not even a big fan of salads, but this one looked fresh and savory, and my friend was pleased with his choice. We both had the Turkish-style lentil soup, which was rich, creamy, and delicious. A perfect foil for a brisk, almost winter day. Turkish-style Pida bread (this is how the Turkish bread is spelled compared to pita bread) is hot and fresh, thick, redolent with a coating of sesame seeds, and ideal for dipping in the rich, creamy hummus. Truthfully, you could eat just the pida bread with hummus and have a great meal. We both ordered the chicken shish-kebab, which came to the table piping hot, with a perfect charcoal grilled outer crust, and two kinds of rice. Yet the chicken was moist and delicious. The best chicken shish-kebab I have ever had. These dishes are fairly simple, yet prepared flawlessly. You could not ask for the food to be cooked any better, or any differently than what we were served. For dessert, glasses of unsweetened Turkish tea, and we shared a plate of Baklava - flakey pastry, dripping with honey, and chopped pistachios. The perfect ending to an excellent meal. While the portions were not gigantic, they were ideal for lunch. We all know that feeling of over-indulging at lunch, and how a huge plate of pasta will make you so sleepy, and then you don't get any work done for the rest of the afternoon. This meal was just the right size, and I can eat.... The decor is quite elaborate with photographs and paintings that are decidedly Turkish, including a photograph of a man who appeared dressed as a "Whirling Dervish", the famous ceremonial dancers and entertainers. A word about the service - excellent! The food was brought to our table quickly, plates were cleared as if on cue, and refills, as well as other requests were handled with aplomb. What a pleasure! A nice crew of hard working, efficient young people. We didn't hear any patrons complaining, nor desperately trying to get their server's attention. Nothing was being sent back to the kitchen. Aaahhh, dining Nirvana.....at last. When was the last time you had that experience? This restaurant ticks all the boxes for me, and I am looking forward to returning very soon. Ample parking, fair prices, a friendly greeting from the boss, and a room full of city and county, political power brokers. You are definitely not in Chilis! This restaurant will satisfy both diners who are not very adventurous, with their simple, but perfectly executed offerings, as well as the more sophisticated patrons who have an experienced palate for Middle Eastern fare, and those who are seeking more complex dishes. I can only speak about their lunches. I have been coming here for maybe a year or so. Lately maybe twice a week at least. Customer service is great. Food is fantastic. Everyone there is happy. The value you get for the price you pay is 100% worth it. 13.99 for drink, fresh baked bread, soup or salad, appetizer and main course! As soon as I walk in there, Ana knows what I want (and my kids if they come). I essentially just nod. The water is always filled. The place is clean. And you tell by their tone and attitude, they really want to make sure you are happy with your experience. One minor suggestion I have but this is me being picky....I wish I didn't have to ask for a refill when my ice tea cup when my cup is visibly empty. While spending a weekend in NY city with my family and my best friend who was visiting us from Jerusalem , we stopped in Paterson NJ to get a quick bite in our way back to Washington. We stopped at this small Turkish restaurant we had dinner before ,however ;this time they could not accommodate a large party of 15 people , so they suggested that we try their other lager location few miles away in Clifton NJ . The restaurant has an elegant face , a Turkish art work with oil paintings from the Ottoman Empire and other cultural treasures. After the free valet parking, we got a warm and a friendly reception , we got great service from professional staff , the food was cooked perfectly , we regretted that we did not have enough time to try their sweets but surely we will come back soon . We decided to take the order to go(time constraint). I would definitely come back and have a meal here. Very inviting atmosphere ...nice dim lights/ wood decor. The restaurant had a large bar, plenty of seating, and the hostess was really kind. They also have valet parking. The people there all spoke Turkish and my coworker confirmed that it was indeed authentic.(you know those fake restaurants that claim they are authentic but aren't). The prices on the menu varied-.from $4 all the way to $28 for larger entrees. I tried the Sigara Boregi ($6.95)-Pan-fried crispy filo dough filled with feta cheese, parsley & dillI. They were really good. As my entree I ordered the Shrimp Kebab-Grilled jumbo shrimp served with steam vegetables and rice ($21.95). The tray was huge but the amount of food, I don't think was enough to share with someone else. I wasn't a fan of the rice so I didn't eat much of it but the shrimp had lots of flavor--squeezed the lemon all over them and the vegetables and I was set! If you are looking for delicious, mouthwatering Turkish food, this is the place! The atmosphere and food will make you feel like you are dining in Istanbul! As a Syrian, I am very critical of my middle eastern food and this is one of the places that never, ever fails to deliver and impress. I suggest starting with some appetizer dishes. Both their cold and hot appetizers are phenomenal. Their hummus, eggplant sauce, lebni, and Sheperd salad (get it with the feta, you won't be disappointed) are great. They give you some delicious bread which I think is from the oh-so-yummy Taskin bakery across the street (see review). If you want to be daring, order the fried liver. It is absolutely amazing. The entrees are all great too, I suggest a combination dish so you can get the best of everything, the doner kebab is a shaved lamb and the adana kebab is a ground lamb kebab. The combination dishes come with rice and grilled vegetables. The kebabs with yogurt are really unique and tasty too, a little heavier and rich but also to die for. We tried the fried calamari appetizer first. It was light and crispy, but no salt to speak of. It needed it. Also, the sauce it was served with had a bitter aftertaste and was a bit out of place with such a neutral item like squid. Oddly, the place was packed to the gills with patrons and yet we received our appetizer within 3-4 minutes of ordering it. Appreciated, but almost too fast. We were barely through our first course when...about three to four minutes after getting the squid starter...out comes the entrees!! We were like, "Huh?" The server snatched away the plates to make room for the dinner plates, and even asked if we were finished with the starter. With a third of it left, clearly we were not. I had the chicken and ground lamb kebob combo plate, which was served with two kinds of rice...one with pine nuts and the other was like a tomato barley pilaf. Both were good, but extremely laden with butter or oil. The chicken was cooked nicely and tasted great, and the lamb was nice as well. My partner had a vegetable stew which resembled Italian Giambotte (sp?) with squash, tomato, eggplant, onion. This was nothing special and something you can get anywhere else. It was almost like, "there needed to be a vegetarian option, so here, let's do this!" I can only say that we were rushed out of this place. From start to finish, we were here for no longer than 45 minutes. At that point the check was paid and we were back on the road home. It was not a relaxing time, for sure. The bad thing about the speed on the food exiting the kitchen is that it makes me, a food service professional, think that much of the food is pre-done ahead of time. While there's nothing wrong with that from an efficiency standpoint, there are some things that you just don't have to do that with, and cook it fresh. Also, it makes your customers feel like you're pushing them out the door. We were only a two-top (that's restaurant-speak for a table for two), and I'm sure they wanted to get us out of there in order to make room for the four-top and six-top that were waiting to be seated ahead of us. Hard to explain, maybe, but we left this place with a bad feeling and even though the food was alright, it soured the experience for us. See? Sometimes it's not ALL about the food. Bad food can stand out way past good service, but bad service can shadow good food as well. Don't be in such a rush, sit a while and enjoy the meal. We will not be going back. read more

These were more like Shoprite lamb chops thrown in a broiler - devoid of flavor, juice, seasoning, etc. The lentil soup was pretty much the same. Needed assistance from salt/pepper. The two stand outs are the Shepherd's salad and chicken kabobs. The chicken was great but could use a bit more juice/sauce on them as they are quite thick. I ordered a combination plate for a table of 7 people, along with 4 more plates of the chicken. The combo plate barely feeds two people. We were all disappointed at how much was on the plate. Especially since we had asked the waiter if it feeds a lot of people. Each chicken plate had two spoonfuls of rice, and the chicken was pretty dry. What is good at the place? Well for one the decor is amazing. I fell in love with the place the second i walked in. The other, the dessert. I had the kadayif and the kazandibi. I really like the feel of this place. The ambience seems very authentic. Much of the staff is Turkish as well. They serve Turkish wines and coffee, which add to the feel of authenticity. I've been here at least 3 or 4 times and every time I go, I keep giving the lamb kebabs a try and they're always just a little dry. This is legitimately my only gripe with Toros. Overall, the food and service are pretty good. Tucked away in an area that most people wouldn't notice is a fantastic restaurant serving great Turkish cuisine. A friend had recommended this restaurant to my mom and so we went there and had an incredible feast! I've had Turkish food at many restaurants so I know what is great, good and not-so-good - this place was great...they server you the traditional Turkish bread (as many servings as you want!) and then follow it with your entree order. We were there for their lunch special which, at $10.99 per person, included a choice of salad or soup, an appetizer, an entree and a beverage - it's actually a ton of food! Our table had a tilapia filet, beef kofte (seasoned beef patties) and lamb kebap...everyone loved everything. The entrees arrived with sides of rice, vegetables and other traditional small sides. Besides all that fantastic food, the restaurant itself is awesome - they really paid attention to detail to create a cozy place, but also liven it up with a ton of decor representing the rich artwork from the Turkish culture. I just love coming to this place! I only have come for lunch (being that I don't live close and avoid traffic) but just the other day I took my sister out for her BD for dinner and let me tell you 'amazing'! Food here is just delicious and the service just as great! The manager 'I believe' actually didn't even ask could of been the owner well anyway what a delight he was! Came around a few time to make sure we were ok. When he found out we where there for my sis BD at the end he treated us with desserts! I tell ya what an awesome guy!
