I've already reviewed the Topshop on Chapel Street and gave it "whatever" marks. Teenyboppers, noise, and tiny triangle tops just aren't for me but I do love their shoes and pants.
Today I headed over to the Highpoint location with low expectations: With my birthday looming at the end of next week I figured it was time to to quit searching for cute, well fitting clothes at Topshop and move on to Sussan or Portmans (well not really, but I did have the turning 33 birthday blues just a bit).
I'm not sure why, but the last few times I've been to Topshop I get shown into the personal shopper fitting room with comes complete with a helpful retail assistant , a comfy couch for bored boyfriends and husbands, and complimentary mini cupcakes. I never end up buying anything but socks after trying on thousands of things in these rooms, which is always super embarrassing. Surprisingly today I found a heap of wonderful jumpers, skirts and pants that, miracle of miracles, all fit me perfectly! The lovely young lady who helped me out was like, "The styles are a lot baggier this winter". I was like: "Hell yeah, bring on the baggy!". In addition to some nice baggy sweaters I also loaded up on skirts and pants in the petite section. As a tiny person who usually swims in pant legs, the petite offerings are a godsend.
At the end I dropped a pretty penny on my new winter wardrobe: Topshop is a LOT cheaper in Europe and the US, but it was worth it. I was given a ten percent "student discount" (I'm a teacher, so close enough) and an AWESOME Kate Moss for Topshop goodie bag. I only discovered said goodies when I was home rifling through my new purchases and I was stoked: There was a Rimmel lipstick worth 15 dollars, nail polish, and various other cosmetic samples, plus a pretty journal and some candy. Did I say I was stoked? Guess my birthday came early this year. read more
