My wife and I traveled from the US to Guadalajara to consult with Dr. Topete because of his extensive background in dental implantology and the reputation of his clinic, URIO.
The clinic is located in an impressive building in a pleasant area near downtown Guadalajara. The office and treatment areas we saw were clean, organized, and professional. There are staff members who speak English, and Dr. Topete communicates very well in English.
Our visit began with a short introduction to different implant approaches and some of the history and development of implant dentistry. We then had panoramic imaging and met with Dr. Topete for an oral examination and additional diagnostic evaluation.
What stood out most to us was the amount of time Dr. Topete spent with us. During our first visit, he spent nearly three hours reviewing our imaging, discussing bone levels and treatment possibilities using digital tools, and explaining different options in detail. We returned the following day with additional questions and again felt welcomed and never rushed.
Dr. Topete also shared professional publications and discussed developments in implant dentistry and minimally invasive techniques.
One approach associated with his practice is flap-less ("implant without surgery") implant placement when appropriate for the patient. As it was explained to us, this technique places the implant through a small opening in the gum rather than cutting a gum flap and may offer benefits such as less postoperative discomfort, reduced swelling, and faster recovery in selected cases.
We also met Dr. Topete's daughter and son, who are dentists in the clinic, and appreciated the family atmosphere.
Our experience was that Dr. Topete was exceptionally generous with his time, patient in answering questions, and thoughtful in explaining treatment options. read more
