This week, we employed Top Tree Care for the second time in four years. Four years ago, they took down a major limb or lead from our big backyard silver maple following damage from a storm. Everything went great then, and our recent experience was excellent as well. We needed to have three large, tall shrubs removed from near the house (our picky home insurance company said they were a no-no) and also a branch removed from the silver maple in the back because it had grown near power lines and over a dog pen. In addition, I wanted the front oak tree "elevated" (small lower "sucker" branches removed). They did it all efficiently and to our great satisfaction; the very reasonable final price was exactly the same as what the estimator, Anthony, had given us. Service was great. Had two very large trees removed from backyard. Crane was used to take trees over my house. Job was done safely, quickly and very neatly. Wouldn't have known they were doing work at my house if the trees weren't gone. They left the yard in better shape than they found it! Price was very competitive with two other quotes. read more

How any one could give this Company a poor review is beyond me. This is a Company that is outstanding in the work that they do and also very thorough and know their job. What a delight to see the Owner of the Company Sean out there working right along side his Crew. He is doing the clean up work and all just like they are. They do their job with such expertise. Do yourself a favor and do your research about this poorly run company! This company is completely unreliable with Horrible customer service! We scheduled two trees to be removed we received two short emails about date of removal. Day of no show no call!! I called and was told they need to reschedule that they are on another job. I used them to remove a half dead pine tree along our home fence near our driveway. We also had them remove the stump that would've been left as well as an older stump by our driveway. They were available practically next day since they had a job in the area and got it done within a few hours. If I could rate this company zero stars, I would. The owner, Shaun, is so unprofessional and rude. I had Shaun at my house at my house on 6/24/2020 to give me an estimate on trim the maple in my backyard and grind 8-10 stumps around my house. He quoted me $900(by email) and the appointment was scheduled for July 16th to come out and do the tree trim. July 16th came and they called and cancelled on us and then bumped us all the way back to the end of the line instead of fitting us in at a sooner date and time. The stump removal was scheduled for 7/19/2020 and they never showed up. Instead they showed up the next day when no one was home and half ass grinded up some of the stumped while the others were completely ignore. They finally showed up on 8/6/2020 to trim my tree and didn't even trim where I asked them too. Now my tree looks like it got a very bad hair cut. I also asked them to cut the vine stump going up my trellis and to cut the branches off on top of the trellis so it wouldn't cause my trellis to snap and break when the vines died. Instead of doing that, they literally just took a chainsaw as cut down my entire trellis AND then left it all in my backyard for me to deal with(I know they can't take the wood). When I called the office to talk to Shaun, I had to leave a message with his receptionist and she in turn called Shaun and told him "I was pissed off", which I never said. Shaun then told me that he would be at my house that Saturday 8/8/2020 to finish the job himself. Well, he never showed up and never called to say he wouldn't be coming over. So today (8/22/2020) he decides to show up and STILL didn't finished the job. So I called him AGAIN to discuss it and I was told he would be at my house in the morning to get his check and if I didn't pay him in full that he would be putting a Lein on my house. I shouldn't have to pay for a job that wasn't done properly. Plus I should mention that a contract was never written up or signed by me. read more

Unfortunately, this review switched from terrific to terrible with one phone call from the owner of this WATERFORD company on the day my job was supposed to be performed. They came out on the same day for an estimate, and said they would come the next day, between 1:30 and 3:30pm to work on my tree. When they did not arrive during that window, I called the office, and the owner called me back. He told me that a particular truck/[piece of equipment had not passed inspection, so they couldn't use it that day, and that he and crew wouldn't be coming out at all to do my job, EVEN THOUGH THEY DIDN'T NEED TO USE THE EQUIPMENT FOR MY JOB. I wasn't clear about how this affected him doing MY TREE, and he continued to give me excuses about other jobs he and his crew had done that day, and got increasingly upset with me because I didn't understand why he was completely canceling my job for the day, AND NOT COMING OUT FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER 7 DAYS, rather than scheduling me as the next job to be completed on their next business day. Although the owner apologized a number of times, his tone was condescending and unprofessional. Please beware of the misleading VAL-PAK coupon that states: "30% off any tree service with coupon. Coupon must be presented at time of estimate." as well as the coupon for and "Additional 5% off if job is scheduled within 24 hours of estimate and coupon must be presented at time of estimate." You guessed it! I presented both coupons at the time of the estimate and was told that neither coupon would apply because they have a "minimum" that needs to be met (not written anywhere on the coupon) so no I didn't receive 30% off my estimate and didn't receive the 5% incentive for scheduling within 24 hours (and they didn't show up anyway). Although the staff was pleasant to work with initially on the phone and for the estimate, i would give the entire experience a "1". Very disappointing experience. Overall poor customer service. Never responded to follow up questions after receiving an estimate. Postponed our scheduled tree removal twice and did not come at the time of day they said they would. We had a very large tree removed and they did a fine job of taking the tree out and grinding the stump. However, they said they would take the logs away the following day. They did not come for another 3 days and this was only after a phone call inquiring when they'd come. The guys that came to remove the logs did not know how to operate the machine properly and repeatedly dropped the logs in our front lawn, our neighbor's front lawn, and in our dirt road, causing massive divots and unevenness in our road. My husband spoke to someone on the phone to ask what they could do about it, and was treated brusquely. In hindsight, we should've paid the extra $200 for the more professional company. read more

We had a very large, very old tree that was predominately dead and was actually leaning against two other trees in a very tricky spot. Top Tree not only quoted us a great price, but the crew was respectful, knowledgeable and arrived early. It was great to see how well they worked together as a team. Each person had their responsibilities and worked so efficiently. They also took down a large dead limb that was leaning into our yard from another tree at the same time. The crew hauled away all the logs and brush and completely cleaned up the yard as well. Can't say enough about the guys. If you are a senior citizen absolutely DO NOT use this company. Took my poor mother for her hard earned money. Agree by mouth to do certain services and basically only trimmed a tree a removed a old dead bush stump for $550.00. When speaking to salesman who is shady, he claims to have had a whole other conversation with her and even called her senile. Owner never called me to even speak about the issue or try and resolve, could not care less because he got paid. I asked at least 3 times for him to call and he never did. They never even got a signature on an agreement, claimed it was all verbalized. Then lied to me saying my mother told him she didn't have email. Total BS from beginning to end. Also the $550 is the minimum for ANY work, then they just keep tacking money on from there. If you have money to throw away use them otherwise find someone who actually cares about their customers read more

I set up a date & time to get an estimate for trimming a tree but they never showed up and when I called to find out why, I was told they had a phone issue and I could re-schedule if I wanted, but I was talking to them on their phone, at their phone number, now that I have read other reviews I am glad they did not show up, I will never deal with them! read more

we had trees cut down by Top Tree Care Inc out of Shelby Township and a month later we are getting excuses one after the other why they have not came and removed the over sized logs that we paid to have moved , I'm giving them another week and if they havnt done it, they will find their selves in court. I will not tolerate like the other person here them doing this and just let it go. If they do finally come out this week and get it finished ill change my review but so far its looking not so great. read more

Originally would have given an average to good review for the day they removed a dead oak and trimmed a few other trees. They were on time, cleaned up well and reasonable price wise. HOWEVER, we agreed they would grind the stump and assured us they would be back in a few days on Saturday because that's when they grind stumps. I trusted them and paid in full (shame on me). Now 6+ months later they have yet to show up and complete the job. MANY phone calls have been made and they assured us it would be "this next Saturday". Sean even showed up to our house last week to look at part of the fence that needs to be taken down, said it wouldn't be a problem and PROMISED to show up Friday/Saturday to do the job...it's now Sunday and the jobs not done. I spoke to him Friday and he said he would be there later that afternoon...now he won't even return our call. So unprofessional and rude. Harry was on time and provided a fair quote to remove 3 trees, grind the stumps, and remove the debris. His crew was on site the next day and completed cutting down the trees and removing the debris. This company is negligent. Takes jobs too big for the equipment they have. My neighbor hired to remove two trees from their backyard and ended up dropping one of the trees on my house causing excess of $50k worth of damage. Employees proceeded to cut down the second tree as they argued amongst each other (utilizing curse words in front of my children) stating they took to big of a job. The second tree fell in my backyard causing me multiple days to fill in holes and pick up their debris. Employees decided without my approval to go on the roof of my house to remove the tree before I could even get photos. Had to replace my entire roof, back patio, damaged chimney, damaged a/c unit, had to re drywall 3 rooms upstairs as the tree falling caused cracking and damage to tresses. Not once after this happened did we get a follow up from top tree care inc ensuring we were ok. My honest opinion if you have a large tree that needs to be removed go with a different company as they will undercut their competition just to land a job they aren't prepared for. read more

sean was out to cut down 2 trees, all went well with that. was told to call miss dig which i did 3 weeks ago. (flags still in the yard & cannot cut grass) contacted sean said he would be out on 4/22/15 to grind the stump. no show & no call as to why they didn't come out. sent several e-mails to the company & called twice, no responce & phone number is taking no calls. payed in full & yet job has not been completed. seems like since he received his money he doesn't care if job is completed or not. not a happy customer!! read more
