Unfortunately, Justin Kuhn of Kuhn's Construction failed to start or complete the project as agreed upon. We contacted Mr. Kuhn multiple times via phone and email to discuss the unfinished work, but he is not responsive. Although we received a judgment in small claims court, I can't imagine we will get any of our money back. We hope this review helps others avoid the frustration and financial loss we experienced.

8/18/2024. Signed a contract with Justin to redo my entire roof in metal about a week after hiring…read morehim in October to fix a hole in my roof (October 2023). Initially he was very responsive, said he found my request on the Better Business Bureau website. Due to his responsiveness, I hired him to do the entire roof in blue metal. Not a single action has been taken since October 2023 on my roof. In the contract it says that I agree to pay up front for most of it (for materials, etc) and then the remainder after the job is completed. I signed a contract with him and as per contract I handed him a cashier's check for $4,700. It is now August 18, 2024 and after months of excuses "waiting on your metal" or "you're next" or "got held up by rain on this other job" he finally stopped responding to my text messages in total. The interesting thing is that he was the one that said my roof "wouldn't last the winter" (2023 Winter) and yet ... he didn't even put a tarp or a temporary barrier on it before the winter set in. Now we've had significant rainfall from two tropical storm/downgraded hurricanes and I sustained much water damage as a result of his neglect. My insurance company is waiting for him to finish, and wouldn't you know that he put "homeowner's responsibility to maintain homeowner insurance policy" in the contract. Fortunately, my insurance company has the evidence of contract and money paid to him. And so will the police, particularly if he has done this to numerous others (which he appears to have). He also put down "Homeowner's responsibility to get necessary permits" but refuses to give the information (his insurance company and policy number, etc) that is a requirement of securing said permits. Usually it is the contractor who secures the permits. He ALSO puts in there that neither party is permitted to hire a third party to do any of the work unless it's agreed upon in writing by BOTH parties .... yet he hasn't responded to any messages; begging, pleading, stern expectations being set ... none of it. I've been patient enough. So Justin ... I don't know if you're overloaded by your personal life or by all these jobs that pop up for you that may seem more interesting and fun to do, but I have paid you for a service. And at this point, you have just stolen the money I borrowed to be able to pay you do to the roof.

AJ built a pool deck for me spring of 2024. It heaved during the first winter which pulled up the…read moreside of my pool and lifted a corner of my 30 year old screened in deck. He came that spring, leveled the deck (but not the steps, I did that) and stated the heaving was probably due to the heavy winter. He never fixed the issue and it heaved again this last winter pulling up on my pool and screen deck once again. He also said the pool deck isn't attached to my screen deck so it wouldn't have pulled up on the screen deck. However one of the support beams was under the screen deck and that's where it heaved. This month I used a sawsall to cut the beam on the pool deck so it wasn't under my screen porch. Once I did this the new deck popped up over an inch and now wobbles. I texted him pictures in February of this year showing it had lifted the pool & screen porch again. He was surprised it did it again and said after the frost left he would be out to fix it. I started contacting him end of April via text as his cell phone mailbox was always full and couldn't take messages. 5/20/26 was the last time I received a text from him which was in response to my text that I was loosing patience. His response was he wasn't ghosting me over something minor. I can't safely use my pool deck so not sure why he considers this minor and I haven't seen or heard from him since the 20th. Way to take advantage of a 64 year old widow Tulley Contracting.

Many excuses and issues as to why a simple one week job takes months and months on end. Not very professional in my honest opinion and would never recommend them to anyone for any job, no matter the size. We are now in the process of filing a legal case and BBB complaint against them, as my elderly father made the mistake of paying them up front, after being told by William, that they needed money for materials. Beware....this company uses other names and numbers online. North Country Builders, North Country Roofing, & Coyote Builders. William Gray (or Grey) is the shitbird crook. Follow-up: We won the case in court last month, no repayments still. One last demand for restitution and then we will have to take the steps to have enforcement seize personal property, residential property liens filed, bank accounts frozen, report him to NY Business enforcement as required for noncompliance to the court's ruling......
