Big prices on some labels, too. Not many big sizes that I've seen. Service in this shop is alright, but you'll feel a bit unwelcome if your idea of going shopping in Armadale includes wearing moccassins. That's pretty standard around here, though. You'll be sized up the minute you walk in, but unless you look like you haven't seen a bar of soap since the 1980s, you'll be fine. If I was going to sum the place up in one word, it'd be 'okay'.

Ronald King Mens and Boys Wear is a little bit misleading when it comes to the shop name. For…read morestarters it stocks a heap of women's clothing as well. There are two shops in the main street and they are on opposite sides facing each other. The first one has only suits and formal male attire while the other is much bigger and has both mens and women's clothing, surfwear and accessories. The prices in here can get pretty steep so you will want a big wallet. I have noticed a few more cheaper women's items sneaking in recently though so there is occasionally a few good bargains on offer. The store is always well air-conditioned and pleasant. The staff are friendly and you are guaranteed a good conversation. I tend to go in there to gawk at pretty scarves and have a little dream about one day being able to afford $80 for such a gorgeous silk accessory before I head down to one of the op shops nearby for some clothes I can definitely afford. In saying that, people who are more well off or like spending money on these things will be right at home here and the clothes are damn nice. The quality of the fabric is obvious and the items here are the kind that you will want to keep in your wardrobe forever.

However, they also stock leather jacket, blouses and casual skirts. Yes, it is quite expensive, but you're getting really good quality labels like Sass & Bide. However the service is fairly shocking. Expect to wait around quite a while until someone offers you help. I've never been lucky enough to find anything here, but perhaps it just isn't my style. It is very trendy-wear but a touch too expensive for my liking.

It's the only non-chain…read morewomen's fashion store on Lygon that is pitched at the younger market, and has a well-chosen selection of casual and dressy clothes and accessories. I go in the store regularly to check out the new stock - they carry a lot of the same brands you'll find in the young fashion department at David Jones, but it's a calmer environment, with helpful staff and a lot closer to home. They carry a good range of jeans - Nobody, True Religion and Mavi, and all of the dresses, tops and trousers are arranged by colour rather than brand. I find this a really easy way of picking out pieces to try on together - it's obviously a clever attempt to get you to buy more and I admit it sometimes works on me! Don't miss the jewellery in the glass counter as it's super-cute, and they've got some brands I haven't seen elsewhere.

It has been open for a while now…read morebecause I remember girls at school raving about the dresses, so it was a bit of a blast from the past to go back here and check it out again. First, I would like to mention the service. In boutique fashion stores it is always a worry that you may end up with a snobbish and rude sales assistant. Thankfully this wasn't the case at Sisca at all. The sales assistant was lovely, helpful and quick to greet me. I was also impressed by how she was managing the store - she was quick to help customers and more than happy to have a chat with me about the opening hours. The clothes are fantastic, think bright oranges and blues for the coming summer, and there is a wide range of cocktail dresses, maxis, shirts and skirts. Sisca stocks some great brands including Minkpink, Cooper St, True Religion and Wish.

The shop is super clean and organised with clothes decorating the walls and on racks in the middle. There are plenty of change rooms and there were so many items I wanted to take in there. They stock brands including Mink Pink as well as some lesser known ones. Staff here are quite attentive - don't think you can wonder around without going through the usual "hello, how are you?" routine. If you obviously want to be left alone they tend to take note and do just that, which is quite good. Prices are reasonable - but again more suit a major shopping centre than the current location in Croydon.

Always being sucked in my a…read morebargain, I have often wandered into Colour and mode after seeing the "Nothing over $50" and "50% Off Sale" signs. Although some of the stock seems to be moderately priced I do think some of the full priced items are asking a bit much. The garments inside Colour and Mode are trendy and a little bit alternative, but there are other stores in the South Yarra and Prahran area stocking some very similar outfits for a slightly lower price. Another such complaint I have about Colour and Mode is that the staff do seem to take regular breaks, I have often walked by and seen a "Be back in 5 minutes" sign on the door and trust me I have waited out the front longer than 5 minutes for a staff member to return with no such luck!
