I asked the clerk about the price because they were $20 over the Merrells website and $40 over some online retailers. He said they only sold at Merrell retail. Untrue. I had a problem 3 days later with the inside-right toe cap rubbing my 2 right baby toes raw. I returned thinking they would take care of their customer. The rude manager pointed out I'd worn them and he would do nothing. No offer to inspect and possibly repair the issue. For example, "I'm sorry I reacted so swiftly. I should have popped in to my place of business first and learned from my staff that you two (only) folks in the parking lot are actually customers." Instead, "Heading off problems, as we had set up camp." Set up camp? Ya, we put our dog out with food and water on a rope. We saw your numerous "no dogs in store" signs. And setting up camp from 9:15-9-39 AM? Come on. Just not a good, customer first business man. Many times in various states around the country, bike/ski shops have even asked us if we would like to, "fill up our water? Or please, take your time. Need any tools? Want some MTB trail recommendations?" Not expected, but good business and really nice. Especially on a Monday morning when we are the only customers you had. You, as a business owner, represent your tourist dependent community. Your choice as to how you do so. My choice to frequent or not, recommend or not.

So.... I remember when…read more....... Okay that is NOT fair. For those that do not know, this is a family owned store. They have THREE locations. One on The Plaza in Taos, this one in Red River, and one in Canyon, Texas, on the Square. I try to shop local. I try to purchase my shoes, be it Birkenstock, Altra, Keen, Danner, Salewa, from a "Brick & Mortar" business and NOT the internet. This store, while convenient, as I split my time between Red River, Taos, and Canyon, has always had my business. This is now completely over!!! Recently I purchased a pair of Salewa Hiking Shoes. After wearing them, about 2 weeks, they literally broke! I went online to inquire about the issue. I was told to go back to the place of purchase and inquire with them about a repair or replacement. Devin had absolutely no clue what I was inquiring about, as he had no product knowledge other than his wife has a pair of the same shoes. Even after showing him the chats/texts between myself and Salewa, he was completely ineffective and had absolutely no clue as to how to help me with the product that HE, himself had sold me. While he is great at selling the items in the retail store, he has no real knowledge of the products that he is selling. As for CUSTOMER SERVICE???? Remember skiing and the Lift Attendant that was always abrasive? That's right, she is now working at TAOS MOUNTAIN OUTFITTERS! Want to be treated like absolute dog pyles???? Go on in to Taos Mountain Outfitters @ Red River and you will get the best treatment she has to offer. Eye-Rolls and under her breath muttering are her best attributes!

The original owners were awesome and always very friendly. Went in recently and the fella behind the counter wasn't rude but not overly friendly either. Will still come here to get our fishing supplies mostly out of tradition and their good selection.
