Tony will tell you your car needs urgent repairs, which sound very scary, and then pressure you to have him do the work. If you allow yourself to trust him, be prepared for bills that can quickly add up and grow. In six months we paid him over €8,000 for repairs to a car he kept telling us was "a great car" that "just needs this one last thing." The last time I trusted him, I paid €1,800 for a new turbo, which I never knew he wanted to replace. The estimate was €600 - and he never mentioned the turbo until I showed up to collect the car - then he handed me a bill for triple the agreed estimate! I was a fool to trust him. He swore the 1,800 would "be the last money you will need to spend on this car," and told me "it will run great for years after this!" I paid it because I trusted him. The car drove less than 7 miles before the engine blew up because he had put a new turbo on without pressure testing the engine. He eventually accepted that he should have pressure-tested the engine (after 5 other mechanics said he was negligent and had done incomplete work) - but then he tried to bill me another 2,800 to replaced my engine, which he had blown! He's so friendly, but don't be fooled. His only goal is to pocket all your money. He now tells me my car is barely worth €3,800, so he wants to keep it and pay me €1,000. I was such a fool to have trusted him. Finally, he doesn't take bank cards, so you have to pay him in cash, and his invoices never show a VAT number. Be aware. read more
