I like Rachel Tompkins as a counsler. But, her receptionist is from hell! If you can get past her, the experience is not so bad.

This Doctor is a joke to medical professionals everywhere. To start, if you give him a bad review,…read morehe is quick to reply in a super snarky and inappropriate manner, telling you why your review is wrong in his eyes. I "liked" a comment someone had left reviewing him on Facebook at the beginning of seeing him, and at my next appointment, he called me into his office, showed me where I had liked a bad rating someone else had left, and asked me to "unlike" it. Who does that? He never keeps appointment times and feels it's appropriate to call you for your 1 pm telehealth appointment at 7 pm at night hoping you won't answer so he can mark you down as a "no show." I've also never had a doctor charge a $10 "convenience fee" when you call in to have your medications refilled. When I finally found a GYN to diagnose me after years of being miserable and getting me the surgery I needed that ended up saving my life, Dr. Hong got mad at me and accused me of "going to other doctors and having surgeries behind his back." Did I mention he's the one who recommended to the GYN who got me help in the first place? I had endometriosis so severely it was taking over my body, causing all of my issues. Don't even bother getting the office to fax any type of medical records anywhere in a timely manner, if even at all. They also love to tell you they "never got the fax" when I have other specialists send him records. I finally had to start bringing in hard copies of my records for him to even acknowledge they existed. He has ZERO bedside manner and no regard for his patients feelings at all. If you tell him you don't want to take the high dosages of pills he loves prescribing you for everything, and you are taking a smaller dosage instead, he accuses you of being a drug abuser. In my over 5 years of abuse from him, I was never actually examined in an actual examination room. All appointments were held in his personal office, where he barely used a stethoscope to examine you! It was always "what do you want now" instead of what can we try next. I stayed with him for so long because some days, he would be helpful, and I would just brush off his bad attitude on a bad day. When he couldn't diagnose me himself...I became a patient not worth his time. He wasn't even going to tell me he kicked me out of his office. I called to check on medications, and his wife answered the phone with, "Dr. Hong wants you to find a new doctor, have a nice day!" *click* No explanation. No warning. Just putting a chronically ill patient on my own.

Four stars because scheduling is sometimes difficult and getting through on the phone is nearly…read moreimpossible. All of this is made MUCH better with MyChart, though. Dr. McIntosh has been my primary care doctor for over a decade. He is very personable and has an excellent bedside manner. He has seen me through quite a few health issues and always pops through when I've been admitted to the hospital. We don't have all the answers for my health problems but I can't say he doesn't LISTEN to every single one of them. He orders tests and refers me to specialists when needed. I've never felt misunderstood or dismissed which is not something I can say for many many specialists I've seen. To be fair, Auto Immune diseases are notoriously difficult to diagnose but I can confidently say Dr. McIntosh is doing everything he can to help me get answers. I would send anyone I know to see him without reservation. *Read up on Celiac Disease, doc! The amount of misinformation from medical professionals on this is criminal and a huge disservice to those who have it. Effects from celiac damage can spill over into almost every other part of your body. Celiac is for life and a negative blood test/scope (after a positive one) means you're doing well GF. it does NOT mean Celiac went away and you can eat what you wish! Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk (which I shockingly have to give to almost every doctor I've seen.)

A few years ago I was in search of a great doctor but was having a hard time finding one... I…read morechecked out a couple that were okay, but the hunt continued until I found Dr. McIntosh. I was sold after my first appointment. If you live in the St. Peters/O'Fallon area, this is your guy. If you live downtown, this is still your guy. I swear he's worth the drive. I've never had a doctor pay more attention to what I'm telling him and genuinely care about what it is that I'm saying... and that's priceless. He's also a pretty funny guy who tries to be "hip" to what's going on in the world and strikes up the funniest conversations! Dr. McIntosh is thorough and knowledgeable, and he'll get you back up and running in no time. I've seen him for typical stuff such as allergies and colds, and he makes great recommendations and always gives me tips that help me feel ten times better. I even had to call the after-hours line once with a bad sinus infection (sure he appreciated that one) and he was still as caring and attentive even though I was bugging him late at night. What puts him above all others is how he follows up and doesn't give up until you've fixed whatever the problem is. For myself, the allergy queen, he prescribed a medicine and a nose spray and had me check in with him 7 days later via the phone, and we spoke that often until he had me on a plan that was working wonders. Looks like I'll be driving that 45 minutes next time I need him!
