My father went to Tom Green Library to use their printer. After everything was complete, he thanked the lady (transgender male) with a "thank you sir" without meaning to. This was a time for the transitioning male to educate my father on the importance of their chosen lifestyle, but instead all she did was shame and yell at him. The other library staff did not help and just agreed with the their co-worker. This shows lack of professionalism within the staff. We will not be using the library anymore due to this behavior, and we will make an effort to spread the word of this unprofessional event to all friends and family. Always choose to educate those that do not understand. Shame and anger do nothing but shut down others from listening and understanding. read more

Conveniently located smack downtown, the Stephens Central branch of the TGC Public Library is one of San Angelo's hidden gems. There is ALWAYS something going on here. There are visiting authors, rotating art installations, monthly Mexican Consulate services, great weekly story times, lots of book clubs, and public-use computers. There is also an incredible makerspace downstairs with machinery, classes, adult craft events, and fun family nights. They have a poster printer and 3d printers, as well. Libraries are about waaaaaaay more than just loaning books, and we are so lucky to have such a cool resource in our area. Pros: outstanding staff, DVD and manga collection, tech services, fun craft nights, amazing children's dep't, unique STEM activities, board games, STEAM Central, excellent online resources, you can get a card online or in-person with any Texas address--not just one within the county. Cons: sometimes parking can be a bear, no Sunday hours. read more

This is an amazing library! The San Angelo public library is the hidden gem of San Angelo. Located downtown, the library is convenient from any place in town. I've never had a problem finding parking which is rare for many downtowns in larger cities. When entering the library I was taken back by how well lit, colorful, and inviting the library is. The library of course has a great selection of books and periodicals,but also has a very good selection of music CDs and DVDs. For me, one of the best is the incredible collection of board games. these can't be checked out, but can be played in one of the side rooms allowing you to talk and play without disturbing anyone. I was my town had a library as good as this! read more

I love the renovations!!!! I wish I would have gone here sooner. The place is very modern, has a great atmosphere, and the librarians have always been extremely helpful. It has free wifi and numerous places to sit and study at. Right outside the library is a small coffee shop. I haven't tried anything yet but there's always people eating there. read more

Everything about this library is spot-on except the young librarian at the front counter. Her attitude is so sour and she is so incredibly rude every single time we visit. The older librarian who works in the kid section is precious. read more

After the renovation this library has improved greatly and the programs offered are great. The only problem are the transients that mooch off the wifi and hang around the area. Other than that it is a good library with a TON of clubs/programs/media. read more

We recently have started going to the library. Before I bought books at Hastings or used my kindle. The reason my family and I started going are the programs offered for kids. My daughter really likes the Lego Robotics class they provide. The instructor is amazing with the kids. They have a list of activities on there web site and flyers at the entrance. My daughter and I were thinking about maybe trying the French lessons and my husband and daughter have been thinking about joining the chess groups. We haven't yet because of scheduling issues but hope that will change soon so we can try some of these community groups. The web site also has times for art classes and Minecraft. I do think that sometimes when I've called for more information I get people who don't know what I'm talking about so I end up getting transferred often. I would like to see the staff a little more knowledgable about the programs offered. I would recommend the library for adults and kids. I think that the library really offers a lot to our community. read more

The library itself is beautiful and inviting. However, my first experience in the new building was completely overshadowed by the incredibly RUDE and APATHETIC staff. Nearly every person I interacted with never smiled, never asked me if I needed any help, and never made me feel welcome. For those I spoke with personally, I mentioned multiple times I had not been there before, and their reaction did not change. I was smiling and polite while asking very few questions, and they behaved as if my very presence was a nuisance. This is simply unacceptable, and their horrible behavior made me never want to return. SHAME ON YOU staff at the Central Library in San Angelo, TX. read more
