My friend suggested this museum and the accompanying walking tour of the Bogside which was lead by a local Derry man who had lost an uncle to the Troubles. Between us we had 5 children, ages 8-17. The younger children didn't get as much out of the experience but the teens, ages 15 and 17, as well as the five adults were completely riveted by both the museum displays/artifacts and the content and passionate yet objective delivery of the guide on the walking tour. He welcomed questions. He was very patient and informative. Highly recommend. Very reasonable price. Tip the tour guide. Nice little gift shop too and a small snack shop just outside the museum.

The provincial players put on several plays throughout the year here with the biggest being the…read morepantomime. They spend months rehearsing and designing and building the sets. It shows performances being second to none. They never fail to entertain year in year out. the ticket prices do vary depending on the performances but they are never excessive and OAP'S and children are less.

Grease is the Word…read more All this week I have been in and out of The Solstice because from Thursday Grease was showing. I have always loved Grease as a teenager I even went through phase of wearing Crepe Shoes, Rolled up Jeans and Leather Jacket, in those days i even had hair to fix. Fast forward to now and Grease has lost none of its appeal. This particular production is by http://www.theacademy.ie and is nothing more then superb. The average ages of the artist is 12 but dont let that put you off they are acting well beyond their years. The cast have done the original movie total justice with excellent perfomances by the Pink Ladies and T Birds. If you happen to be in Navan tonight for the final performance I would highly recommended going. Ill be going for the third time and remember Grease is the Word.

My sister and I were driving up to Silgo and decided to take a scenic drive around the lake on our…read moreway up. We were touristing, and I was delighted when we happened upon this tourist spot. It's really cool. They offer tours or just free roaming exploration of the grounds. We opted to just walk around and look at everything. It was insanely beautiful, like just about everything else in Ireland. Inside is set up like a museum with informative little notes about history on things. The grounds consist of an courtyard and then some fields just off the lake. After we spent some time just looking at everything, we stopped in the gift shop on our way out. I have to say they had the most interesting selection of Ireland post cards and magnet type things that I saw anywhere in the country. I would definitely make sure to come back and I tell anyone I know heading to the West to check it out. It's not an all day type thing but you can definitely make an afternoon of it with the woods just across the lake that are good for a bit of hiking.

It's the same truism for restaurants. I had the misfortune of eating in the fast food outlet here and it was very poor indeed. When I lifted a menu it was sticky with a dark tomato ketchup residue. The last time I found this lack of proper cleaning I was in a Nando's in Manchester. It's either carelessness or laziness. I then scanned the overhead display to buy the least offensive food and ended up with a kids chicken goujon meal, essentially breaded chicken & chips. It was under £4. The chips are 2 out of five and just poor. The chicken was zero out of 5 as it was just awful. Food hardly gets much cheaper than this factory-made rubbish. The meal came with a medium sized machine dispensed drink so I got Diet Coke. I also got an Americano that was alright so it is 3 out of 5. The saving grace was that they served Heinz tomato ketchup and proper HP sauce. Also the food portion was decent but I certainly didn't eat it all and the staff mega friendly. So overall it's only just a borderline 3 star as I'm in a good mood but I can say with confidence that I'll never eat in this place ever again.
