Do Not Bring Your Items to This Shop! I haven't rated it yet, however if I cannot give it a zero, it really is my rating. There are 3 other reviews that are not recommended and hidden and that is sad. One of the reviews is what happened to me and I may have caught on to her scam a bit earlier if I had read it. I do not live in Bemidji, however my family does and I am up there 1 to 2 days a week. Where I live we do not have a consignment store. I met the owner earlier and she had given me her card. In the meantime, I lost a lot of weight. I had all name brand clothing. I am a shopper and only like nice things. Anything that was marginal I took to charity. A friend of mine from Bemidji had witnessed my bringing in clothing that amounted to the back end of my CRV. I also brought in clothing from my husband and son. I stopped in frequently, however the owner was hardly ever there. I work so it was hard to find time to check on things and one time I was there during store hours and it was closed. As mentioned earlier it is difficult to get pay outs or meet with her. Minnesota nice and trust, you know... I finally managed to meet with her and she told me I had 4 or 5 items that sold and they amounted to $18.00. She had no record of my number or items and had to issue me a new number as my number was registered to someone else. She assured me that she knew all about everyone's number and items and all was correct. I thought about that and called her back and said my husband's like new suede jacket should have amounted to that if not more. She said there was no suede jacket and I said yes there was, I saw it and it is not there anymore. She called me back later and said oh yes I remember that, I credited that to another woman who brought in 4 coats. She said it sold for $15.00. She gave us $15.00 for that. I went home and it continued to bug me...as some of the items I had given her were Parsley and Sage, a Black Angora Cardigan with sprinkles on the shoulder (from Macy's never worn), Designer dress black pants...from Norby's, a boutique store in Bemidji, and Talbots, etc., many Woolrich items (skirts, pants, 2 wool vests and 1 with pewter buttons) a new black jumper and blouse and skirt from Kerna Labette, other items included Pendelton, Talbots, Nike, Adida, Danskin, Eddie Bauer and many more. On these thoughts I made a special trip to her store on a Monday, missing work, but trying to figure this out. I thought if I could find things in the store that were mine we could look at the numbers and try to figure this out. The owner was not there, but I explained what I was doing to the clerk. The first items that I found that were mine were a denim trench coat and a Nike baby blue jacket. I brought them over to the counter and the sales person said those cannot be yours, those are the owners own items for sale. Well, I can tell you this did raise my concern. In the meantime I continued to look and the owner returned demanding to know why the items I had picked out were hanging in the back. After that I found an Adidas windbreaker that belonged to my son and a pair of wind pants that in the dark that looked navy blue but in the light I could see they were a dark grey and quickly admitted that those were not the ones I thought they were. I explained to her what I was doing and asked her to look at the receipts and check the items that had sold and my number on these items. She was very snotty and refused to do that. She said it was too late and why hadn't I been in before when I had and stated that. I had even met her daughter on a non-payout day. At that meeting, she explained that as her daughter is graduating, she is selling the business to move, as Bemidji is not a place for a single woman. I said I would just take the items I had found with me as I would take them to the Boys and Girls Club Thrift Store, and she said no you won't that would be stealing. I had to laugh at the irony. I looked at her and said,
"I thought you were a nice person, however you are not. I guess you live an learn". I walked out. The only way I can make this experience better is to share with others. Do not take your business here. Always photo the items you wish to consign and make a documented list. If you wish to buy this business you may have issues trying to overcome her unethical business practices. After I shared this with others, I heard similar stories in Bemidji regarding Tkz Closet. read more
