The tragedy aside (which, btw, happened in Helsinki, not the great Berlin) and after tearfully sobbing for about 20 minutes, mourning the loss of all the goodies packed to help ease my travels, I was also sort of relieved. I mean, it's hardly backpacking when you're lugging around a suitcase - However, a month later, I realized that I was in danger to freezing and I needed new, warmer clothes asap. Super dry was conveniently located and the store was large and inviting. Yes, flannels go for atrocious and ridiculous prices, but I couldn't resist and tried on outfits after outfits. Unfortunately, time was the enemy here (so was money really..) but I'd like to highlight the lovely service I received at the store and the incredible merchandise they stock here.

Mister B specializes in clothing fo the gay men's leather and rubber fetish community. While not as…read morebig as its flagship store in Amsterdam, Berlin still has quite a good selection of pants, chaps, harnesses and shorts. It also carries lots of gay adult paraphernalia. The high quality leather that Mister B uses is not cheap, and everything is basically hand cut and sewn. Leather pants are upwards of 500€. They also have 'fake' leather goods that are much easier on the pocketbook. Most of the pants designs are patterned for guys 6 ft tall, so even though Mister B will hem to your length, the detail patterns may look off if you are much shorter. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I needed something from Amsterdam custom adjusted to fit right, and within 15 minutes I was all set. (I'll let you speculate as to what it was LOL.) There are a number of men's leather stores in the Schöneberg gayborhood and Mister B is probably leading the pack.

If you're going for the cowboy look, they've got tons of cowboy hats. If you're going for the fedora, they have a bunch of those, as well. Plus, they have a number of outdoor hats that you may find useful for your outdoor adventures, or just your walking experiences. The shop is well design. It's basically just one large square area, with the hats lining the walls. They're all very well organized. So, finding the Stetson you're looking for is quite easy. A lot of people going into a Stetson shop don't really know what size hat they're looking for and they need a little guidance in this area. The staff at the shop is happy to give it to them. If you do know what size hat you want, all you have to do is tell them what you're looking for, and they'll let you know if they have it. Overall, if you're in Berlin and you want a Stetson, this is your place to go.

But when you visit the actual store, it takes a very different turn. Yes, the design of the store is delicate and trendy, but the quality and the fit of the clothes are way below par. & other stories is a part of the H&M group, and while the look might be more Cos-like than Monki-like, the quality is more in terms of the latter. There's still the one off piece that stands out, but all in all your better off saving your money. And hey, not supporting H&M is probably a good thing anyways. Sweatshops and all. The cosmetics / skin care part of the store is not so bad though, worth a visit on its own.

This is quite a nice store, but in many ways, it is a typical Hugo Boss store, with designer goods, most of which seemed nice and of a good quality, but of course at high prices. I called in to try on a few pairs of shoes, looking for a new pair of shoes, sadly the selection in terms of shoes was quite restrictive and the ones they did have were a little pricey and they weren't wide enough, which was a shame. The staff here seemed nice enough but struggled to understand and recommend products which might be suitable for me, as I have wide feet, perhaps this was down to either a lack of product knowledge or the language barrier, as of course I was in Germany and I don't speak German, I only speak English and un peu francais (a little french) Overall, this store is okay, but it is merely average and only warrants a high two star rating.

If, like the people who work here, you are also a lower class East German pig and potato farmer, I guess this place is great! Just as the Cologner said, the people who work here have no interest in helping people who come into their store, even when no one is there. Hugo Boss is pretty low end stuff, but it is quite cheap as well, and work suitable. I was in Berlin and had to get something quick so stopped in, and was blown away by how incompetent the staff were. I've been to Hugo Boss stores on three continents and never had anything but good service, so I have to wonder who was hiring here. You might say it's a German thing but that's not true; even in Berlin I've had plenty of good service before (and after, when I went somewhere else...in West Berlin though). Oh well, their loss, i just wanted to buy something...and I still make more in a couple weeks than these guys make in a year. Have fun at the harvest festival!
