Carla Lucas at the title company is completely unprofessional, makes false claims, and is confrontational. She made a clerical error that I had to point out that was worth over 120,000 dollars. At no point was I upset, as errors are made. She sent me an email, never addressing my name, accusing me of being unresponsive, when I in fact paid early what she wanted, and looked through all correspondence, proving her own negligence. It seemed as though everything was going smoothly with my closing (I'm the buyer), but at the 11th hour - the night before the closing - I spoke to Carla Lucas and she said there was a discrepancy in one of the numbers that resulted in my needing to pay an additional $400 at closing. Of course I did since I didn't want $400 to hold up the closing process. Afterward, it became clear that in fact, I didn't need to have paid the extra $400 and that her back of the envelop recalculation was incorrect. It's now more than two months later and I can't seem to get my $400 overpayment reimbursed! I get no response to my emails and am just being ignored. This company totally lacks integrity. read more

Caution before you choose this company . . . If I could give a negative 5 on stars I would. I used this company for many years (we owned many rentals). Several years ago they started going downhill and finally dug a hole beneath the valley. There is a new manager/owner, Jim who I am certain is the cause of the negative change. There are two employees who are good, one is Debbie Mack, but she is currently out. They make errors in paperwork (luckily we caught it on multiple contracts over the past few years), they gave us information on the wrong house. They do not initiate conversations, you need to essentially coordinate the work. We don't use a real estate agent (never have) always "for sale by owner" so we are comfortable being hands on. Last year, for our personal residence, we used an attorney and his off-shoot title company because the sale of our home was complicated with lot split. Therefore we are able to compare to a high quality, respectful, professional service. We had bad experiences with Title Professionals Group, LTD in downtown Chardon in the past so I called to give them one last shot and asked to only have Debbie cover our case. I was assured of this. After the closing, as I did not want them to act passive - aggressively and mess up my closing more, I asked for an apology for the many breaches and lack of communication from Debbie and assistants. The email from the manager Jim was ridiculous. If you message me - I will be happy to send you the full strand of emails so you are able to make your own decision before you hire a company. You are hiring them. You deserve accuracy and respect and with them neither is likely! He actually took many shots at me, the customer! Doesn't even have basic decency, let alone business skills. There must be an enormous trickle down from him, because this is no where near the old company. Luckily, I am detail oriented and make sure everything was on track. Two days before closing they did not receive what they needed from bank and I had to make it happen. WE had to find out what they needed for wiring instructions. Had we not pushed them for information we would have not closed on time. We had to get money from our mutual fund to a bank then to them. We needed to close on this on the correct date because on moving-in time-line. There was NO DIRECTION from them. Luckily I understand the process so I had to stay after them. Also, because I am detail oriented, I caught problems with the signatures (trust vs individual). Also, on one house recently, even though they had our trust documents they did not have it titled correctly. This time, the signature pages were not correct. I caught it and signed it both ways. They make many errors so unless you are willing to hire an attorney separately or look at things with a fine-tooth comb and you are willing to deal with unprofessionalism - choose elsewhere. read more
