Not what I was expecting from the impression I got from the posters and the name; rather than a modern twist in music, dance and energy I saw a trio of flamenco dancers, a trio of breakdance dancers and a trio of hip-hop dancers (who were admittedly gifted in their different genres) but seemingly misplaced together and bad at acting. Each section of the different dancing styles was watchable but nothing much out of the ordinary. The flamenco dancers were good at their rapid tap-dancing and spinning, a couple of breakdancers were spectacular in their fluid effortless movement; as if light as a feather and yet so controlled, and meanwhile the hip-hop served more as a filler than having any impact of its own.
The decent talent of the dancers and the boldness of using live acoustic music and singing gives this show great potential but where it fails in its quest is that the dancing has very little story or emotion, transitions between styles of dance were quite disconnected, the singer seemed to croak on lyrics or rapping, even the guitarist fumbles on some of the plucking and there was very little by way of staging.
Some peculiar features of the show include: the dancers seem inhumanly attracted to light and the flamenco dancer did a whole section of tap dancing on an old sheet of metal as if this was a revelationary thing to do. The show also took an awfully long time to get going; although it did manage to heat up by the end. All throughout there did not seem to be any recognisable theme or anything to explain the beginning or bring a conclusion to the end. read more
