This was not at all what I was expecting.
A group of 16 of us reserved a table for a friend's birthday, we sat in 1st class, which was $90/pp, 3rd class is only $10 cheaper. We were to "set sail" at 6:30pm. The top of the building is meant to look like the top of the ship, and you seriously can't miss it on Nelson Pl. They give you a 3 course meal, it's average food. I found the stuffed chicken too dry and the steak overdone. The entree was probably my favorite part of the meal. At the beginning the waitress comes by about 5-10 times just asking if you'd like some more drinks, keep in mind that this is not included in your $90. Our bill came to $243 for drinks alone. The cocktails were surprisingly reasonably priced (about $9). But after paying such a high price for average food, I would expect complimentary wine/beer or even a bottle. We were told ahead of time that you aren't paying for the food, you are paying for the experience. Roll my eyes.
There really is no story going on that you are watching. It's a bit a short musical bits with random characters. And a little bit of audience participation. The last bit was awful, I wanted to fall asleep as it was dark and they were reading shout outs to each table. That seemed to drag on. There was no stage, so sitting in one corner of the dining room, you could hear what was going on, but not see anything. It's awkward, the characters continually go from 3rd to 1st class, and at one point we could hear the show bit going on downstairs. I was not impressed, thought it was too random and there was nothing in me that wanted to keep watching. I wish they had more of a plot, and had more of a Titanic-esque feeling to it.
It is an expensive night out, a bit overpriced for what you get. read more
