I guess they never heard the expression "the customer is always right" and you as a representative for all the people who have shops inside the mall cause someone to walk out because you can't shut the F up. REALLY!!! How dumb can you get. For all the people who don't vote they are part of the problem. I think of citizens of countries all over the world who are fighting for reforms of their government because they don't have the luxury of voting. And then these sales reps are proud of the fact that they show off their ignorance. And then they throw measles at me. Yes children in public schools where diseases and lice spread like wild fire need to be vaccinated. And if you don't want to have your kids vaccinated you can home school them. Very simple. Oh and then he lobs at me that Bernie owns three homes. Well I don't really know anything about Bernie's three homes but thinking about his age and how inexpensive homes were forty years ago and how ownership doesn't mean you don't have a mortgage to pay...I again was stunned by the stupidity. He did forget to mention if Bernie's bathroom faucets were gold like the IQ45. Must have slipped his mind. The place is huge! It is pretty well organized. There is furniture throughout. There is a section for bathtubs---beautiful old clawfoot bathtubs. Oh yes, there is a section of just clawfeet too! There are tons of old doors, windows, reclaimed wood, cabinets, hardware, and so much more. I could spend hours in that place. And don't worry, I will. It was pretty cold in there today and my partner in crime was being a baby so I had to dillydally and linger less than I wanted to. I remember the first antique shop I ventured into in my…read moreadult life, with the tagged prices dangling around like the "You can't afford this" taunts I took them for, and how I thought "why would I pay so much for something so old when I could pay less for something new with a guarantee?" And then I evolved to understand that although new can have its benefits, old is most often better. Things just aren't made today like they used to be. Everything is cheap plastic and plywood and imitation. Gone are the days of real wood cut from century-old trees, individually crafted marble bookends, US-made pottery. And that's what makes antique shops special. They allow us Generation X, Y and Hipsters a crack at living the way life used to be. Antiques are dying by the day, and antique shops are our last chance to buy as many Dodo birds as we can. In the last 10 years, I've been to countless antique stores up and down the east coast and so I'm pleased to say that one of the better ones sits just a few well-travelled miles down the road from me. Five Corners Antiques sits atop a furniture store and an architectural salvage warehouse. You could literally build and furnish most of an entire home with the contents from this one building. Five Corners Antiques sells merchandise from 40+ eclectic vendors. One or two, admittedly, have been creative with their interpretation of the word "antiques" (a Yankee candle? Really?) but the great majority of these vendors offer a wonderful selection of vintage and antique items that are decorative and/or completely practical/functional. There's furniture for all rooms in the house including everything you'd need for a kitchen; tools; artwork; ephemera and old books; rugs; toys; baskets; lighting; etc. with an emphasis on the etc. The shop is well-organized and welcoming, the employees are kind and helpful, the booths often have sales (their Super Bowl party sale was incredible!), and there's a clean and stocked bathroom. The prices are sometimes higher than you'd like but you can always try haggling. The employees will gladly call the vendor to ask if there's a "better price." You will spend hours in this shop and you will spend money. And you won't mind.
