Best. Recommendation. Ever. The pair of them know what they're doing! They're great with suggestions AND they listen to you! But it's not just these guys, whilst I was in my chair getting my hair did, I saw many customers walk in and out happily- the hairdressers here know what they're doing. Bubblekid currently have two stores, but my local is the one in De Pijp (next door to Omelegg, yum). These guys also stock Kevin Murphy products, which whilst pricey are definitely worth the splurge! The service isn't always 100% when you're in store without an appointment (the shop is huge, great for browsing the 'Things I Like, Things I Love' clothing line and other wares on display), you'll need to book so you're not wondering around aimlessly when they're busy busy busy or expect to be a little bit patient! It's definitely worth it!

The salon does not have mirrors at each chair, which I would have preferred a mirror. My hair isn't exactly what I had in mind and shorter than we discussed. It is also uneven. One chunk of hair on the left side is 1" longer. Not sure how I didn't see it while I was there.

He's a world famous hair stylist and travels the globe to do topnotch fashion shows and magazine shoots. So imagine this - one day he's doing the hair for the Victoria's Secret show, and the next day he's back in the Baarsjes to give you a fabulous on point haircut for just €50. I mean, this is for real!! Tommy'z Toko is especially your place if you lean towards a more forward look, and I personally especially appreciate how amazing they are at creating a look that is just perfectly you. More than once they convinced me to try something I normally would never dare to do (go shorter, coloring etc.), only to end up totally in love with my new look and getting tons of compliments. Hanging out at Tommy'z Toko is a real treat as well, just in case a fabulous new cut by a world class hair stylist isn't enough by itself. Nice people, nice energy. Good music, I even love their tea. All in all, highly recommended.

The hair dresser refused to give me the length i wanted on my haircut, and throughout the process I kept telling him to cut it shorter. In the end when he wanted to finish off I told him to CUT IT SHORTER so he just chopped off my hair with an electric shaver. All I was asking for was a bob haircut in the length I wanted (I already had a bob haircut). I left the place shaken up and on the verge of tears. This was a male hairdresser.

I saw only positive reviews of Salon B, so I went there. Now I regret it wholeheartedly. I have suffered some of the worst haircuts of my adult life in this salon. Most recently I went in for a mere trim and somehow had my sideburns whacked off and several months of growth from the top of my head and bangs removed when I told the stylist not to touch anything but the bottom of the back of my hair for a clean up of it. When I initially called Salon B for my first appointment I asked to have someone who is good with women's short hair work on me and was told that everyone in the salon is trained to work on all types of hair. Let me state unequivocally that I have not found anyone in the salon who specializes in short women's hairdos. A few employ the motto of "do no harm", but I have now sworn to never enter this salon, even if only for a trim.

I'm much more weary in Holland, for some reason, but after reading several reviews for the Salon B in Haarlem (where I was living at that time) I scheduled an appointment. While the stylist didn't speak English and I didn't speak Dutch, I must have misunderstood what I was getting myself into because my bill was much higher than I anticipated. Apparently I agreed to have some kind of shine treatment done for another €40 on top of my color and cut. I wasn't terribly impressed. When I moved to Amsterdam, I made an appointment for the Centrum location, and was very pleased with Fleur, my stylist. She knew exactly what I wanted with the cut and color. I was in and out in about an hour and a half, and at €100, I was mostly satisfied. When I got home, I noticed I still had a few grey hairs peering around my face, and for that price, I think I'll be shopping around again.
