However, I don't visit Albany Road very often anymore, so I'm more likely to get that kind of thing done while I'm in town, and Timpson is the best place to do that. While slightly more expensive, the service is just as good, although it can get pretty busy in there on weekends. The store is really tiny too, so it can get really cramped. Their watch repairs in particular are excellent, with batteries that last much longer than those I've had replaced in other stores. They also sell funky keys in different colours and patterns, which it's really handy for me, as I seem to have a ridiculous number of keys, and spend ages at the door trying each one.

It's even got one of the best deli's in Cardiff... so it can hardly be described as a slum! I've lived in all of the places where inner-city tension is rife, and where all of the riots took place back in the early 80's. This includes Mosside, Toxteth, Brixton and St Paul's... Splott is conspicuous by it's absence in this list! There's no denying that protecting your home is a smart move. Burglaries are reasonably common in Cardiff. Cardiff Lock and Safe Ltd offer complete home solutions as well as providing security equipment for commercial customers. I always think that the equipment that these guys sell is expensive, but that's because a lot of what they stock is pricey wherever you go to buy it. In reality, these guys are pretty cost competitive on most things, and the range of products that they carry is impressive. I had to get two spare keys cut for my new house, so on a trip to Albany Road I dropped them in here first thinking that I could pick them up on the way back. There was no need, however, as he stopped whatever else he was doing to cut them there and then, chatting happily to me about Cardiff and the weather and other things as he worked. I was surprised at how cheap it was too, as I've previously found that it is shockingly expensive to get keys cut. Aside from cutting keys, you can also get shoes repaired and engraving done at this store. It sells a nice range of gifts too. Most of them are things like lighters and keyrings that are designed to be engraved, but there are lots of other things besides and gift cards too.

I was trying to put up some blinds in my bedroom, but needed to cut them to size . Being a bit helpless in these matters, I ended up going over the road to this place for a saw of some kind. The guy in the shop was lovely, and when I told him what I was attempting to do he offered to cut it to size for me - so off I went back to my flat to get the blinds, which he then sorted out for me. Talk about customer service! I'd highly recommend this little independent shop over the bigger chains such as B&Q, where the staff are often elusive, dismissive and indifferent.
