He was almost proud that he's ruined endless lives, and doesn't respond to CCJ's. My house is in the worst possible state. Any certificates they promised haven't been received. Some certificates I should have received, I've been told you don't get (you do of course, but they don't care because they're cowboys.) They're threatening, rude, lazy, incompetent. I honestly have nothing positive to say about them. The work I have been left with (having already paid for this) is ridiculous - I paid them to do a full central heating system, they did it so badly I have to do it again. I paid them to line and install flues in two chimneys, they're refusing to provide me with a HETAS certificate, so I have to do it again. They had a plumber (who installed the central heating system hideously) do the plastering - according to 4 plasterers I had come and look at the property, it's "the worst plastering I've ever seen" (each one said that, but the plumber can't plumb, you can imagine how bad his plastering is!) My wife and I have become sick through this process. We were supposed to have moved into our house nearly 4 weeks ago, and it's miles away from being anywhere close to being in a position where we can move in. PLEASE, do not hire Lee McCarroll or David McFarland. Look at previous reviews for A2Z Builders or Penny Lane Contractors. They've changed their names so many times, because they're cowboys who endlessly ruin lives.

As his partner only gets the occasional time off work, and that she was given the 8th June, and he wanted to spend time with her. During the conversation he tells me that he will work the Saturday 10th June to make up for not starting on the 8th, on the 9th June 2023. After being here for 1 hour tells me that he doesn't like working weekend, and that he will and do has much as he could in that day. To prevent him from working the Saturday 10th, turns up on the 12th June. Managers to complete a full day, get an email @01:45 Tuesday morning, telling me that he can't make on Tuesday 13th as something had cropped up. Get a texted message on Wednesday 14th won't be able to get you till 10:30, because I have got to fill a form out for an electrical charging point. Turns up just after 10:30, couple of hours into the job. It's to hot to work in this weather, and stops work @15:30. Next day Thursday 15th June, gets another text message telling us that he will be with us at lunch time. At 14:30 no sign contacts him via text message telling him to leave turning up, as it was getting too lat. Contacts me back telling me that he needs his tools, so that he could get to another job on Friday. So to rip us off he comments am I coming back to complete the work, I replied back. That I would get back to him in a a day or two, so that we could think things over as to whether we could rely on him completing the work, he then comments could we settle up now with the money. And that he just wanted to make sure that he got paid, I told him not to worry that I will pay him. But he replied I just want to make sure, so he worked out his price and I am sorry the day I ever paid him. Due to that fact of him letting us down so much, he may be okay on smaller jobs whereby he can pick and dues his work. But any big jobs he can't cope with, and this is we're he will let you down. Sorry Paul but you are a waste of space, you just don't like getting your hands dirty.

Not a huge job - but if he preferred not to do it, I'd rather he had said. Said he would come the following week - but it rained all week, so being reasonable, we did not expect him. But he did not phone us. The next week I phoned him & said that I understood that he probably had a backlog, and he said that he would do it the following week. That week - heard nothing by Thursday, so I phoned him & he said that it was about a "2 hour job" & he would be there tomorrow (Friday) & that he would phone me. The next day I had not heard from him by 11.45, so I phoned him. He denied saying that he had said he would phone me & said that he had asked me to phone him !! Then he said he would be there by 2 p.m. The yard at the back had been cleared of obstacles to make it easy for him. He did not arrive & has not phoned. We are in our mid 70's & tend to look after our workmen, supplying drinks & snacks & a few extra £'s on top if the job is done well..... so his loss.

Darren gave me an initial quote, which got higher as the original materials requested weren't…read moreavailable. For most of the job, lasting 2 weeks, the only people who were consistently on the job were a general labourer and a new employee who hadnt landscaped before but we were quoted for professional landscapers. As the job went on Darren changed the design and, as I thought, exchanged the patio tiles I had paid for in exchange for a composite walkway in the same material used for my patio, he changed the layout of the steps and the size of the deck. On completion there were numerous issues which Darren agreed were substandard as he had rushed the end of the job to finish to deadline. He then presented me with a bill for an additional £1500 on top of the £14000 I had already paid him. This was far in excess of his quote. We refused to pay as Darren could provide no invoices and had removed substantial excess materials from the property for use on other jobs, but finally after 5 months of argument Darren agreed to make good the problems F.O.C. That was in November and we are still waiting, despite pleading with him to come and make good on his promises. I hate leaving this review because his workers never stopped, in all weather's and Darrens ideas are lovely. Sadly, he cannot run his business effectively and if you hire him I'd warn you to check everything you you pay him for and gets itemized receipts for the materials. We paid £14000 for a town garden to be decked, flagged and astro turfed. We have since asked 2 other landscapers what we should have paid and they agreed the cost with labour should have been approx £9000!!!
