Service is second to none but not 'in your face'. They keep a distant eye on you and are there in a flash, if needed. A big plus is the price. Extremely reasonable. The interior decor was instantly recognisable - a massive wall of text telling a quirky story using local landmarks and food. Unfortunately Acanteen moved early this year to new, larger premises. Now it looks like an Ikea showroom. All the rustic charm of the old shop is lost, it's indescribably dark and the simplicity of shared benches with other strangers is ruined. The menu has been broadened to include a dinner menu and fairly bog-standard choices. The atmosphere is no longer laid back as you can feel the stress of the kitchen through the restaurant. I would always have given this establishment 5 stars. Now, I struggle to give it 1.

They do sandwiches, rolls, wraps, salads etc. They also have jacket potatoes with some very tasty fillings. I can highly recommend their soup also. You can also get the usual tea, coffee and juices as well as shakes and smoothies. They have a good tasty selection for vegetarians especially the wraps which are delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful and don't get annoyed when you spend ages deciding what to have! The prices may not be the cheapest but I think for the portions and the freshness and variety it is pretty good value. It's nice to treat yourself at lunchtime now and again.

But I happen to live just round the corner so I go there quite regularly. The restaurant has undergone a redevelopment inside and looks ten times better then what it did before. This makes for a nice atmmoshere. At times you will have to wait a long time for a table but this sign of a good restaurant when it's always busy everyday of the week. It is even busy during the day due to the reduced prices of already cheap food with access to the salad bar which is brilliant because you will not need to get a starter and is included with every meal. I have always found the service in the Harvester first class considering how much you pay regularly costs me £25 with drinks and deserts when I go there with my girlfriend and about £20 at lunch time but it depends on what you order. You seem to always get a nice sized portion and I have never left there feeling I could eat more. I have also been there many times with a large group of people and still never had a problem food has always been fantastic. Overall it is good value for money
