The following weeks after filing our taxes we received the federal and Oregon portion of our tax refund. I waited about a month before I started to wonder where my New York State tax return was. I then proceeded to go to the New York state tax website to see when I would be getting my return. The website kept coming up with an error as if my taxes were never filed. I then called New York State to see what was going on. It turns out after many long phone calls and waiting on hold for what seemed like forever that the New York State portion of our taxes were filed under my husband's name. This meant that I could not make phone calls about MY OWN tax return without my husband speaking for me. This was very frustrating because the hours of operation for New York State Department of Taxation and Finance were also the hours my husband works. I called H&R multiple times telling them there was a problem with my taxes and they assured me there wasn't. Weeks went by and I finally got a hold of someone at New York State Department of Finance that knew what they were talking about. He then showed me the error on my tax return and told me I need to have H&R fix the error. I decided to call a different H&R Block in the area because the first one didn't help at all. I made an appointment with H&R Block at the 10730 Enduring Freedom Dr Fort Drum office. Our new tax associate was now helping us fix all the errors in our tax forms (there were lots of error's). It is now May 1, 2020 I have yet to get my tax refund and the IRS is not taking amendments right now (or so i've been told). The Fort Drum office did their best to help me in this situation. They have printed me the forms I need to send in the mail.I would like a reasonable refund of the New York State Filing Fee I paid to H&R Block since I still do not have my tax refund and they didn't do their job correctly. I've called H&R Block to make a complaint they told me I can only make a complaint in person. I went to H&R Block to make the complaint in person and they gave me the district managers card. I then wrote the District manager an email. Explaining the situation and she has yet to get back to me (it's been three weeks). Update: It is now May 15th and I have still not gotten my return or an email from the district manager. I'm not sure what to do at this point this is ridiculous H&R Block took my money and didn't provide me with the service I paid for.
