We were looking for a place to get a quick lunch and then spotted Violet Mae's Bakery. As soon as…read morewe walked in we noticed the white board with various menu items such as sandwiches, soup and one type of breakfast sandwich. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with ham and my wife ordered a BLT. I also ordered a coffee. While we were waiting for our food we looked around to see what else is available. There were two fridges for frozen meals that could be taken home and reheated. There were some basic groceries such as eggs as well. Of course, being a bakery, there were lots of breads, buns and pastries. Our orders didn't take long, but since there are no tables everything was to go. That's okay, I can eat in the car. My wife said her BLT was especially good. My breakfast sandwich was very filling but also tasty and not messy so it was easy to eat in the car. My coffee was not so great. It tasted like what I often make at home. That is something that Violet Mae's could improve on. However if you are passing through town and looking for a place for a quick lunch to go, or you need to pick up some bread for later, this is your place. It's only a block from the highway and near the west end of Whitecourt.

I bought a large donair on my way through town. I opened it on the highway and cannot eat it due to allergies. I'm really disappointed. Sure, offer extras to stand out, but don't change the expected recipe without warning.

It's very spacious, the staff were extremely welcoming, even chatting enough to realize that their chef used to live where I do (crazy small world moment). The food was fantastic as a lot of it was homemade, the daily soup made my mouth water Will 100% be making this my regular stop whenever I'm in the area

I've had lots of ice cream here before, and they consistently have a great selection of flavours, so I'd definitely still recommend stopping in for a treat. We also played mini golf, and while the course is definitely a little dated, that honestly adds to the charm. There are lots of obstacles that make it surprisingly challenging--even for the 'pros' in your group--which makes it way more fun. The overall vibe here in the summer is always amazing, and it's become one of those spots I genuinely love visiting. The staff have always been super friendly too, which makes the experience even better. If you get the chance, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out! I will say tho, their food can definitely be hit and miss, I got a taco in a bag and a poutine, the taco in a bag was okay.. nothing special, the beef inside wasn't super appetizing looking. And the fries were definitely undercooked. That's why it's getting the rating of 3 starts despite the positives above!
