Located right on the main road into town this bakery is nestled on the main floor of what appears to be a residential type duplex. Kind of tricky because at first glance it doesn't look like there's a business there. I picked up a couple strawberry rhubarb hand pies (very flaky and so tasty), a few pieces of banana cake with decadent peanut butter icing as well as few pieces of cinnamon roll cake (OMG!). Everything was fresh, tasty and absolutely divine. Every day you can expect a daily soup & sandwich special and the house made baked goods change from day to day. They have cupcakes in the fridge and I also happened to notice that they offer house made ice cream sandwiches!!! YES! The decor oozes country charm and beckons you to cozy up with your homemade lunch or a sweet baked treat. I love the warm & welcoming vibe here and I will absolutely be back to visit with the lovely owner and sample some more goodies!

There were two fridges for frozen meals that could be taken home and reheated. There were some basic groceries such as eggs as well. Of course, being a bakery, there were lots of breads, buns and pastries. Our orders didn't take long, but since there are no tables everything was to go. That's okay, I can eat in the car. My wife said her BLT was especially good. My breakfast sandwich was very filling but also tasty and not messy so it was easy to eat in the car. My coffee was not so great. It tasted like what I often make at home. That is something that Violet Mae's could improve on. However if you are passing through town and looking for a place for a quick lunch to go, or you need to pick up some bread for later, this is your place. Personally I thought it was the best sandwich that I've had in a long time. My partner said it was excellent except that the cheese wasn't melted. I also found the regular brewed coffee to be first rate. Service was immediate and friendly. I didn't check WiFi as I didn't need it, but, there was a sign for free WiFi. This is a great place to stop for lunch and the unique venue makes it an interesting experience. I highly recommend Kerri's in Westlock the next time you're in town. The sandwich was delicious. After we finished the sandwiches and our shared slice of carrot cake we discovered that the coffee included refills if you order a meal. The staff were all very friendly. This is the kind of place where people in the other tables are bound to start a conversation with you and we experienced that exact situation. All in all we had a great time. They have good selection of baked goods as well as a few gluten free options as well. The staff are very friendly and know all the locals that come in there. This place was busy when we came in but there are a few tables throughout the front and back of the shop so there were still spots available to sit. This coffee shop is also a gift store with a lot of unique local and handmade items. You can definitely find something for anyone on your gift list in here and all while supporting the local artisans and community. If you're in the area I highly recommend making a pit stop here for a coffee and a smile!

I stumbled upon the Sherwood Park Bakery and built my airport departure around trying something from the shop. [They open at 900 am which is late for me.] When I pulled up, there were about 5 people loosely waiting for the bakery to open. THIS was a good sign. As I walked to the door, 2 others queued up in front of me, but the cashier was familiar and quick with their orders. My go-to donuts are always apple fritters. I saw them on the shelf, but was a bit concerned because it wasn't "knobby" like the ones I've tried at other bakeries. Nonetheless I ordered one and I was surprised! It was still warm, NOT knobby, but the dough was almost like a brioche. There was a sweetness to the smooth texture and a crunchy exterior with just the right amount of glaze. AND, unlike apple fritters in the US, this version had slices of apple which was a welcome change. [The apple bits are usually small cubes down south.] There is no doubt that if ever Edmonton, I would make it a point to return for another apple fritter. AND, judging by what other patrons ordered, the assorted/variety box is a popular choice!
