Disgusting old incomplete dos fish tacos
    Lauren P.

One of the worst experiences at this location! Ordered pickup and spent a few dollars shy of 50 bucks for my husband and I. I ordered the fish tacos and he ordered the chicken tacos. My tacos were literally thrown into the box, soaking wet cold fish, soaking wet tortillas and no sauce on tacos. Absolutely disgusting and no care at all from whoever prepared it and packed it. My husband had 2 small pieces of chicken in his entire 2 tacos and his tortilla shells were torn apart and soaking wet. We used to order from here regularly but never again. We will never ever spend a cent here again. This location just wants your money and doesn't want to give you an actual meal you can eat or enjoy. I want my money back! Contacted the email address that you gave Zoe B. And no one contacted me whatsoever. Horrible customer service, horrible food. We regularly spent money here but will never again nor any other tijuana flats. You can't charge 50 bucks for swill and garbage. We work hard for our money and you people have no care or pride or quality in what your serving for food!

We have been to many Tijuana Flats. Disappointed in this location in Winter Haven. We ordered the garlic lime steak bowl, burrito with steak, kids chicken fingers, and a side of the dueling quesos. My kids chicken fingers did not come with apple sauce and two or three chips with her meal. My wife had the steak bowl. She felt it was spicy to be spicy, not for flavor. Rice was bland (boiled down, no flavor). Size of the portion was decent. Good amount of steak. Overall, so so My steak burrito was good. Jalapeños add a punch. Dueling quesos were good. Orange is more of a Tex mex and white is more of an original queso. I prefer the white queso. We had burnt chips. Yes, you read this correctly. Burnt chips. At least 10-12 in our bag. Not impressed Not impressed with the customer service. No one acknowledged us when we came in. We decided to get our sauces first. Was impressed with the Togo sauce containers. They were sturdy and solid. Overall, we don't think we'll be back at this location, but, will be back at a different venue.

Tasty and fast service. Fresh chips, chicken bowl, even the nuggets were chicken breast. The place is clean and a hot spot after Legoland. Love the atom bombs but wish there was more filling. The chimichanga was good and filling. Wouldn't drive out of the way to this place but was better than Taco Bell.

The finest, cleanest and best organized Sauce Bar I have ever seen! Very clear signage.

It's all about expectations and these guys met mine in spades for fast-casual Tex Mex in a vibrant environment! Customer Service- My customer service was dope! That's not a word I usually use but that's the word my cashier used when she told me how great my experience was going to be! She was incredible, and it was impossible not to smile when dealing with her. Atmosphere- There really is only one word, vibrant. Huge in your face colors and graphics. It just feels like this is a place to have a good time. Food- Standard Tex Mex fare with no real surprises. You can get your tacos just about any way you want. I ordered a Beef Taco Duo with hard shells for less than $8. I was hungry, so I added an extra taco for $3. This was a giant mistake because they asked me if I was a first timer. If you say yes, this triggers a huge free tray of warm tortilla chips and chunky salsa. That's a nice touch! Adult Libations- A bunch of beers in draft and bottle. Sauce Bar- So my food was out very quickly and during my very short wait I was eying the Sauce Bar. It looked amazing. It was spotlessly clean, had a vast variety and was very well organized and signed. The sauces start with the milds on the left and as you move right that is where death resides. As I had three tacos a filled three little cups, and each was perfect for one taco. I have news for you. If you want blood coming out of your orifices, try the sauce on the far right. Trust me, I know these things! So my tacos were great and very fresh. I enjoyed everyone. The last one caused my orifices to leak a bit, but the staff was great at cleaning everything up! So my fellow Yelpers have nailed this place with a solid four stars for several years and they deserve it! Expect fresh and clean and inexpensive but watch out for your orifices!

Love their burritos! Their tacos are awesome also. The sweet chili sauce is the best. We try to go back 2-3 times a month.

The tacos had the perfect crunch and were generously stuffed, which I really appreciated. For appetizers, I got the guacamole with extra serrano peppers. If you like spice I definitely recommend asking for the extra serranos because it really hits the spot. I also tried the Boom Boom sauce, and it's easy to see why it's so popular -- super flavorful with a nice kick. The chips and salsa along with the creamy jalapeño sauce were a great way to start the meal too. The chips had a great crunch, fresh and not greasy at all!!! Shoutout to our waitress Alejandra -- she was incredibly sweet, patient, and made the whole experience even better. Overall, great food, great service, and colorful environment. I'll definitely be coming back for some more!!

The cheese relleno was delicious! Nice crispy coating with plenty of cheese filling in the pepper. Enchilada was also good, but needed some additional sauce as the chicken was a bit dry. Casual ambiance on the patio, which was dog friendly, exactly what we were looking for. The only thing holding my rating back was the service unfortunately. We had to ask several times for water refills, additional sauces, and napkins before they were brought. Overall the food was great, but the service could be improved. Would like to try again sometime soon.

I visited on two consecutive nights and had vastly different experiences…read more On the first visit, I dined in and was immediately acknowledged by our server, who was attentive throughout the meal, frequently checking on my drink and ensuring we were comfortable. Even when we accidentally stayed past closing time, she politely informed us without making us feel rushed. The food itself was decent--not exceptional, but very reasonable for the price. The second day, I opted for takeout and had a completely different experience. I walked in and sat at the same table, but no one acknowledged me for about 15-20 minutes, despite there being only one other occupied table in the restaurant. Just as I was about to leave and find another place to eat, a server rushed over to apologize for the delay. When my order was ready, a different employee was about to mistakenly give it to another table. When he offered it to me and I inquired about the order to make sure it was mine, he admitted he wasn't sure and had to check. A few minutes later, yet another person simply asked if I had ordered takeout and handed me the bag. At this point, I waited another 5-10 minutes just to pay. When the original server finally returned, he asked if I had checked the contents of the bag--a strange question, considering it should be their responsibility to ensure accuracy. I took the server's question at face value, but it's very possible that they were being sarcastic. At that point, it didn't matter what was in the bag. I had to leave to go work. Again, the food was acceptable. However, it was not worth the wait and hassle. Though the first visit was fine, the poor service the very next day was remarkable. To make things worse, the restaurant didn't even include utensils in the bag. It's well apparent that some of the staff could benefit from training. When reviewing restaurants on Yelp, I think it's important to set fair expectations based on the type of establishment. This place seems geared towards a lively atmosphere, so I adjusted my expectations accordingly. However, even considering the dining category, certain standards should still be met Lastly, a restaurant that is capable of providing such subpar service probably shouldn't prompt for a minimum 25% tip on takeout orders at their credit card terminal. That was laughable and I am at least grateful for having a good laugh on the way out.

It may not be bright and shiny but it's worth the stop. We had chips and salsa about 2 minutes after we sat down. The server was polite and answered all my questions and did not steer me wrong. I think the burrito was big enough for 3 and I got a to- go box to proof it. They had a local band that was primarily country, so that only made it better. You could easily drive by and miss it, or you can watch for the bright light and listen for the musicians.

The restaurant itself is very nice inside clean, well designed, and has a welcoming atmosphere. There's also a parking garage nearby, which makes it convenient. When we arrived, it wasn't too busy, and it took our server about 4 minutes to greet us. Once she did, she was incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially since I have a shellfish allergy. That definitely stood out and made me feel comfortable dining there. They start you off with complimentary chips and dips, which were amazing and a great way to kick off the meal. For my main, I ordered the chipotle queso enchiladas along with the Perfect Paloma. The drink lived up to its name it was refreshing, flavorful, and honestly one of the highlights of the meal. We also tried the supreme nachos, which were good overall, but the beans were a bit overpowering compared to the other toppings. As the restaurant started to get busier, things did slow down a bit, and the food took longer than expected because they were backed up. That said, our server continued to check in on us and kept a great attitude the entire time. When the enchiladas finally came out, they did not disappoint. The chipotle queso enchiladas were absolutely delicious full of flavor and definitely something I'd order again. The only downside was the rice, which was a little hard and not as enjoyable as the rest of the plate. Overall, Uncle Julio's offers a great dining experience with excellent service, a clean environment, and some really standout menu items. A few small issues with timing and sides, but nothing that ruined the experience. Rating: 4/5

Unfortunately missed the mark on our visit…read more First off, we were enticed by their advertisement for half price cocktails. We went in during Happy Hour expecting to sip a drink while we waited for food. Despite advertising Half Off Cocktails, when the server finally arrived we were informed that it only applied to about six margaritas on their menu, not 'cocktails' as advertised. We didn't complain to the server, as we assumed it wasn't his policy. Disappointing and misleading. We did end up ordering a variety of margaritas, which were disappointing to our crew for various reasons. Mine was acceptable but not exciting, though. I got the swirl with sangria. We checked in online and got the free 'guac'. I wish I'd snapped a photo, as it arrived without an attempt at presentation, just two scoops of mushed avocado on a plate. It needed more seasoning, which was unfortunate because there was no salt at our high top table. Nachos were decent, but soggy. I asked for extra jalapenos, which I did receive and they gave my plate more flavor. Service was fine. I felt bad that our server was both tending bar and taking orders as happy hour seemed to be a busier time for him. Overall, my experience was ho hum but my table partners were disappointed in the food, drinks, and experience. Hopefully yours is better than ours!
