Great location tucked away behind the royal parade in Chislehurst. They do a great Sunday roast, but it gets very busy, so get there early.

The British Queen - Steak and Ale pie with creamy mash potatoes and a glass of Ale £17

Absolutely loved this place. And the name The British Queen was so appropriate given that I loved…read moreanything related to the Queen. The ambience was lovely, with Christmas decorations and an outside seating area. We came in November and there was a Christmas menu with 2 or 3 courses offered during Christmas time and I only wished I stayed long enough to give them a try. We ordered beef bourguignon 19 pounds, steak and ale pie, served with a delicious creamy mash and a glass of ale 16 pounds, chicken (special) 19 pounds and Malabar fish curry with Haddock and king prawn and coconut rice 19 pounds. The food was soooo good and it really made my day to have had such a good meal at a pub. Definitely will return if visiting the area again on my next trip.

A once traditional boozer has been completely converted into a gastropub…read more The restaurant is located at the back of the pub and completely dwarfs the bar in terms of size and they've crammed a lot of tables into the space which does make it feel a bit cluttered. We came for Sunday lunch where it's possible to order from the full a la carte menu as well as the Sunday special. The full menu is very extensive - one of our party ordered the Beef Bourguignon which he thought was superb. Effectively this turned out to be a huge hunk of braised beef and in truth it looked fantastic. The rest of us ordered from the Sunday menu and went for either the beef or the chicken. The beef (a sirloin) was cooked pink, which pleased me and was good. The trimmings were OK. With the Sunday menu, it's possible to add a starter and dessert for an additional £2.50 per course. I went for the cauliflower soup which again was good but unfortunately the chocolate and banana mousse hadn't set, so it was more like a chocolatey banana soup. I'm not in the area much but this place was very busy, especially considering the one-time Michelin star rated Chapter One is literally across the road. So it's clearly a hit with the locals - lots of families! I would have probably dished out four stars had the dessert not been such a flop as it was a very pleasant dinner even in slightly cramped surroundings.
