In fact every third shop on Campbell Pde seems to at least stock swimwear if not a specialty beach gear shop. Bikini Island has a really good range, with tops and bottoms sold separately- for those of us who don't fit the pre-set size standards imposed by swimwear designers or who like to mix & match. The clearance store stocks some of my favourite swimwear designers (Zimmerman, Tigerlily etc) as well as Bikini Island's own label which is decent and pretty cheap! If you end up at the beach without swimmers it's not going to break your wallet to pop in here and pick up a new costume and they also stock towels, goggles - most things you'd require for a day frolicking on Bondi Beach.

I literally walked in, told lovely Tess sales woman, exactly what I was looking for, and in less than 5 minutes I had the best looking and fitting bikini I have ever owned! Not only that but she taught me how to fit the fabric to work for me!!! It was truly the best shopping experience I have had in the longest time! I'm sending all my friends to see her now! Thank you!!!

I make no lie: I saw this store from outside and muscled my way in despite my friend forcefully preventing me (we had promised to stop each other from buying too much stuff). there's only about 2 pieces of each item of clothing, so there's a lot of variety crammed onto those racks. look carefully: you will definitely find something that you like. I bought a summer dress here that reminds me of my trip to australia whenever I wear it. they also have a few gift ideas that kind of scream I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO GET YOU, MOM...stuff like soaps, candles, picture frames, house decorations... I can't imagine many people buy them, but they add to the classy atmosphere of the store!

It's just that their garments don't speak to me. There is a huge range in there of women's clothing from labels like Sunny Girl, Mink Pink, Junk and Angelica. I just don't think their choices from the ranges are exemplary. The double racks hold many a maxi dress, tops, skirts. If you rummage through the many items you may find a cute Summer dress hiding in there to wear to the beach. Occasionally, very occasionally, there is a little casual garment you could part with some cash for. Very little cash, there prices are low. The cabinet is home for various gift items. Large fragrant candles and photo frames. There's some jewellery there too, but again, not my style.

For women there are beautiful Zimmerman silk sun frocks and they also stock the cult jean brand J Brand. I imagine squeezing my generous self into one of those waxed denim numbers that I have seen on Rhianna and decide I stick with the 'whatever-I-can find' daily look rather than aspire to the unobtainable vamp rock star. Biird has a great store configuration with the right hand side of the shop being fashion mostly for the infant - toddler girls. The boys clothing is accessed to the back of this section. To the back of the shop behind the cash register is the womens clothing. Prams and strollers can be easily pushed around in each section. This is one of the things I love about Biird is the product placement is clearly defined not jumbled together like your kid has just hurricaned through the shop and that one is able to wander around easily. Clovelly Road is a very busy street right up until the second roundabout where the 2nd block of shops are. It has some of the best bakeries, providores and of course Green Mango, Pasta Zu and Clodeli which are very popular eateries. Be savvy and use one of the side streets to park that has unlimited parking. For my little diva I purchase a couple of transeasonal pieces including a green Diesel layered dress and a beautiful cotton number from the brand Ouch. Biird also stocks Fred Bare, Gaia, Pure Baby Organic, Love Luck shoes and Baby Havaania's. The staff are incredibly helpful and having children of their own I trust their wisdom in their suggestions.

With an enviably good position right by the beachside Campbell Parade, this business has been cracking on for over 21 years. Who would have thought selling swimwear by Sydney's most iconic beach would be big business?! It's actually quite modest inside - and be prepared to fight the tourists - but the range is great. They stock Seafolly, Roxy, Watersun, Sunseeker and of course, Speedo. And bikini fans will be happy to know they sell separates, with tops ranging from A to F cups and bottoms from size 8 - 24. Buying swimmers can be a pretty traumatic experience - but with 21 years under their belts, The Big Swim have seen it all - and they're happy to help.

Stocking all shapes and sizes, cuts and styles, you would be hard pressed to not find a bikini you love in here. If you need help, the lady who runs the store knows body shapes and will be happy to put forward her two cents. The bikinis are on the pricier side of the scale but that never stops me from walking out of here with 2 or 3 new bikinis. You can never have too many, right?
