We did decide to go to this one in São Paulo last night ironically, yes, but more importantly because they were showing the first game of the NFL season. The staff working at the bar was great. They got us our drinks quickly, the mugs were frosted and kept the beers cold. As soon as we moved to our table, the honeymoon was over. It took an absurd amount of time for them to replace our round of beers, and the quesadillas we requested without chicken came with chicken. When it came time to pay the check, we also found ourselves waiting an absurd amount of time. Luckily we just subscribed to the NFL ticket, so now we can watch games at home as opposed to having to ever go to Applebee's ever again! Also - the one thing that makes Applebee's interesting is they are part of the neighborhood. When I go to the local one near my family in NJ, the walls are covered with local sports team paraphernalia, old photos of the town, etc. This Applebee's had bare walls. It's in Brasil! I imagine there is some really awesome stuff they could be putting up there! Might make it more interesting.

The burger was the best I found in SP. Not only was the good great and the service very friendly to a non-Portuguese speaking group, the atmosphere felt very hip. Was having a craving for something a bit lighter and fresher than my recent meals, so headed a few…read moreblocks from my hotel to this place. It wasn't too crowded when I arrived shortly after 7pm, but it soon became pretty full, reflecting its apparent popularity. I wasn't too sure how to order--are the ceviches intended as a starter or a main, and what size is everything?--but the staff are helpful, and I decided to have anticuchos of veal heart as a starter, followed by the ceviche mixto, and see how I got on with that. I also ordered a Pisco sour, of course. The anticuchos come as two skewers with four slices of meat on each, together with a spicy sauce. This was really excellent, with deep flavours, good texture and just the right amount of food. The ceviche came next, and it looked wonderful, with bright colours and plated appealingly. I sat at the bar, so I saw the chef make each batch of ceviche to order, tasting the marinade each time to make sure it was well balanced between citrus, salt and spice. Mine was surely excellent, and I decided there was no need to have anything else. Pricing is very reasonable, too.
