Second time getting my nails done ever! This place was…read morehighly recommended by coworkers. I went in for a refill (they tidy up your nails with powder (I call it nail cocaine) and a new polish colour) and it cost me 40$ with tax and tip. Not cheap and I'm not sure they did a much better job than the last place I went to. The place is hard to find unless you know your way around the Montreal downtown underground. It's in the tunnel that connects PVM and Centre Eaton. They close at 7pm on Mondays and I finish work at 6pm. When I got there there were already 3 people finishing up so I really thought they weren't going to have time to fit me in but it wasn't a problem. The removal of my old polish was really fast. The man had all sorts of gadgets and tools. Then he cut my fake nail tips, applied the nail powder (cocaine), and finished up with nail filling (I originally thought you file the nail and then apply the powder). The guy who shaped my nails was a pro! He was filling it every direction making sure every inch of my nails were cut evenly and smoothly. It was great! The part that turned it into just an ok visit was the application of the colour which was done by a lady. The colour I wanted was mislabeled and so they didn't have it in stock anymore. I had to choose another colour on the spot so I'm not completely in love with it. And also, the lady who painted my nails painted one of them crooked. You can't see it when my fingers are together but you can totally tell once the finger is alone. For 40$, I don't think that should happen. Maybe my nail is misshapen but shouldn't they fix that then? Instead of using gel polish that is just polish, she used the kind you put in the little cooker thingy. I don't think I like that method because, even though it's faster, I don't think it feels or looks as good. In the grand scheme of things, it's small. They still did an ok job and it is a very convenient location. They were also very friendly. Verdict is still out on wether I'll return.

Great customer service! Very nice people and 2 weeks later our nails still look perfect!read more

I absolutely loved my pedicure at Peaufiner! We called Thursday and got an appointment on Saturday…read moreafternoon. The salon does hair and nails and although all the stations were busy it was still a calm atmosphere and I loved that immediately! We sat in these ULTRA comfy chairs while Laura and Mireille did our pedicures. We chatted a bit, they offered us water, tea and coffee. They are so kind, tedious and attentive. My feet felt amazing afterwards and although we just did a classic pedicure, the nail polish is so shiny just like a shellac pedicure! We hadn't brought sandals because the weather was cool so they used a special machines to dry our toes to make sure our nail polish wouldn't get ruined in our shoes. They even offered us "to go" flip flops that we could return whenever we wanted! I highly recommend this salon. We had such a nice time, it was calm and we didn't feel rushed at all even though they were running a bit behind that day. Our pedicure was $55 tax included and they gave us 10% off to apologize for the wait (which really wasn't long!).

So I almost never get my nails done. When this spot opened on Beaubien I peeked in as I walked by and was definitely curious. It's beautiful to begin with, it looks like a place where you would feel like you were actually treating yo'self. Big velvet chairs, lots of plants, big bright windows with pops of rich greens and purples. Still, I wasn't tempted enough yet to venture in. Then I ran into a wise hippie witch friend who I was surprised to find was on her way to Peaufiner to get her nails done. She told me that all their products are natural, organic, and as vegan and local as possible. Hello. This feels like real indulgence and self care to me, and I'm happy to pay what it's worth. Turns out, it was a wonderful experience all around. The super smart tough cool lovely women who own this biz are fun to hang out with and great at their jobs. My nails are still perfect, and I went back the next day for a blow out (which I had literally never done) and I didn't end up looking like not-myself, just a polished version of me who is attempting a little more self-care while I get all fat cooking this tiny human.
