Thurman Burger and fries
Ed D.

Got the Thurman burger and it is huge with 2 thick patties and cheese. Their fries are well seasoned and you guessed it...they're also huge slices. I guess everything in Texas is big? . The price was very reasonable for being in the airport and the portion sizes. Good burger and fries!

I had a short time in Austin before my next flight home to Indy from the holidays, and needed a bite to eat, so I decided to go to Thurman's Old Fashioned Burger place to get get something to eat. I went to the kiosk menu and everything looked good, but wanted something simple, so I decided to just get the three piece chicken tenders with fries and a Starry to drink. My order was ready to pick up within a few minutes after I placed the order on the kiosk. The chicken tenders and fries were excellent and very fresh off the grill. It tasted perfect and comforting in my belly. For something quick and on the go, this was the perfect meal. Thurman's looks like a great burger place, and I'm sure the burgers are wonderful, but cannot speak to them since I did not have one. If I happen to come back through the Austin Airport again, I will try a burger at Thurman's. They did look amazing!

First things first: this burger was massive and so were the fries that came with it. However, the fries were very grainy and I could only eat a few before I got tired of them. The burger itself was edible but just tasted low quality. I've never said this about a burger but the meat to bun ratio was too high, it tasted too meaty but not in a good way. The ingredients in the burger were more fresh than a fast food burger, but I think I would've enjoyed a fast food burger more.

I'm not sure what all these negative reviews were about ...my burger was so delicious! Hot and fresh and expensive because it's the airport. I totally expected the price tag and I have no regrets. Our customer service was fantastic. They called us by name. Everything was perfect and it was scrumptious! I love eating local when we travel out of our home airport. The food is so good.

Burnt chicken breast

Fried chicken Sandwich burnt to a crisp. When I pointed out it looked nothing like the pic. I was told by staff that it was fried chicken! No it was burnt and over cooked chicken. Wedge weren't bad. Waste of $18.

Decently okay burger and decent wedge fries from the airport but as a meal it was $21 - way overpriced.

1/2 Lb. Signature Cheeseburger. Like a crime I took a bite out of it.

I think any review of an airport food outlet has to take into account that every restaurant in every airport has menu items that are overpriced. That's everywhere you go in the world, with the only variance being just how much that food is overpriced. I needed a quick means of refueling before a flight and decided to give Thurman's a go. I settled on the 1/2 lb Signature Cheeseburger as it looked appealing despite the price ($17 with fries, $19 if you get a fountain drink-what a bargain!). My sandwich came out hot and delivered promptly by the friendly staff. The burger was cooked beyond my preferred medium rare but that's about par for the course in these E. coli phobic times. The meat was not too far gone and I actually found it fairly tasty. Fries were my definitely my type-thick wedges of Idaho goodness fried crispy and not overseasoned. It was better than I expected and better than some of the other outlets I've tried in the Austin airport. The one ding against this location is the shameful lack of customer seating for it and its neighbors (the market, the pizza joint and Fly-Rite chicken). I wouldn't drive across town to eat here but if you're at the airport and are hungry, this is a decent choice.

Example of burger.

OMG what a ripoff.... Ordered a $6.00 kids burger that comes with fried. Clerk with attitude asked if I wanted anything on it so I said yes but when I got the bill, before seeing what I was getting my bill was over $16.00! What a joke, the tomato was the size of a 50 cent piece. Also they will not tell you how much they're charging for any extras.... STAY AWAY ITS A TOTAL RIPOFF Went to counter to similar ask what the charges were for the extras and clerk was a jerk and would not answer customer inquiry. This was at the Austin Tx airport

My first visit to T-Loc's Sonora Hot Dogs and wow, what a way to be introduced to this spot!…read more I met up with a fellow Yelper friend and we got there not long after opening, which turned out to be a very smart move. While we were waiting for our food, it suddenly became a whole scene, it was National Hot Dog Day, and the line just kept growing and growing. People were fully committed too, hot dog shirts, hot dog hats, I'm pretty sure I saw a walking hot dog at one point. Add in folks bringing their own ice chests of beer and it felt like a little hot dog party. We decided to go big and ordered every kind of dog they make so we could share and try them all. A super sweet lady brought our order out to us, which I loved. No waiting around trying to hear someone shout out your name. And let me tell you, every single one was damn good. You really can't go wrong here. My favorite ended up being the classic chili cheese dog, because apparently I like to keep it old school, ha. But seriously, Mr. T-Loc knows exactly what he's doing with his chili recipe! I also tried an agua fresca for the first time and now I get the hype. So refreshing and good. Next time, I've got my eye on one of those big burritos because they looked crazy good, no joke. Accessibility wise, they do have accessible parking, which is a huge plus. The seating is a mix of circular and standard picnic tables, some with shade, but not the most wheelchair-friendly setup. They do have a ramp up to the covered area and I made it work by parking at an angle at the end of a table, nothing was getting between me and those dogs. Bottom line, this is a must try spot if you're craving great food and don't skip on the fresh made agua fresca!

10/10 every time. No notes just everything is perfect and phenomenal. The flavors are insane.read more

So waiting to get a drink to awhile while sitting at the bar. People were standing in line about 8 people to order and the kitchen hitting some bell for her to run food. We ordered a beer and food, the tots were cold, the mutha cluck sandwich was inconsistent with temperature and chicken was dry. He had the burrito and the bacon were small pieces that were super hard and pulled on side of the burrito but temperature was good. The food was just blah, nothing to brag about. The beer tasted funny (like sour taste) and it wasn't just one type of beer it was several. They had a man sitting up to play for live music., he played well but it was loud so hard to hear him if you are back of restaurant. Don't think we will be back anytime soon since the time before wasn't that good either. Hope the girl who was work the front, bar and running food gets paid for 3 peoples job. She did a great job ensuring recognized each guest that came in and the ones there she acknowledged their needs.

I didn't feel like a burger though so I got the Classic Coney hotdog which is full of Detroit style chili (thick meat chili with no beans), and loaded with red onions and shredded cheddar cheese, then topped with mustard. It was delicious and filling. It Truly was like a dog you'd get at a Coney's in Detroit, MI. IYKYK. Then I heard you had to try the latke here, so I got Bubbe's OG Latkes which is 2 round thick potato pancakes! It came with sour cream and Smutz smoky aoli sauce on the side. I tried it both ways and it was good. But really it was best with that cold creamy sour cream that goes so well with the potato flavor. They also have great drinks which are refillable for free while you dine in. And I love the chill vibe and decor. Great artwork and old photos. Very funky! This was my first time trying Korean hot dogs and OoooohK-Dog…read more We ordered a few different dogs and an egg toast so we could try a bit of everything. The potato dog was a big standout. Crispy on the outside with fluffy potato chunks and honestly didn't even need the mustard drizzle after all. Crunchy, salty, and ridiculously fun to eat. The classic mozzarella dog was also solid with that satisfying cheese pull everyone wants and a perfectly fried coating. The batter was my favorite part of everything we tried. I'm convinced they could batter a book and it would still be good! The egg toast surprised me. I love egg sandwiches but this was STACKED. Now I'm genuinely sad I don't have this spot near me because I would eat that egg toast constantly. Thick, buttery toast stuffed with soft eggs, avocado, and a sauce that I have no idea what it was but absolutely loved. It tied everything together perfectly and made the whole sandwich feel extra special. I wish they sold this sauce in a bottle for my eggs at home! The space itself is clean, casual, and easy to navigate. Plenty of room to sit without feeling cramped, ordering was simple, and the menu does a great job explaining all the options. The staff was super helpful and even pointed us toward the most popular items to try first. This is the kind of place you stop into out of curiosity and leave already planning your next order. If you like street food, and eats that are a little different but still familiar, this is absolutely worth the stop. Crispy, cheesy, and very snackable.

The sweet-and-savory combo was so good, and the cheese pull top tier.

Negatives: -Order taker/server's heavy accent very difficult to understand. -A la carte; no combos. Side portions (tots) are enough for two people we found out after ordering. -Didn't realize the burgers come with 4 Hawaiian slider rolls as the bun; we ordered off the wall menu behind the counter. Upon picking up the burger, the 4 rolls immediately broke apart as did the hamburger patty. Ended up being a "hamburger salad". -Cheeseburger comes with pickles; found jalapeños instead, on the bottom. - Coke at the fountain tasted like Diet Coke, thought maybe the lines were crossed. Server tried it and also at the bar then checked in the back and said "out of Coke." Impressions: Didn't care for slider rolls in place of a burger bun, as it makes for a big fall-apart mess. Sweet Hawaiian comes in actual hamburger and hotdog buns!! More negatives than positives so we don't plan on going back.
