I had the pleasure of meeting Cori about 6 years ago when I worked in downtown Chicago. At that time, I was going through a really bad issue. I did not have any therapist referrals. I simply did some online searches and found a group that was located near my office at the time. Once I found that group, I read the profile of every therapist (and there were many) on their website because I am really picky with the people with whom I share my inner feelings . I found many items in Cori's profile that really resonated with me, and I just had this feeling that she could be the person I needed to help me navigate through my dark days. Of course, a website can never make one feel 100% confident in a choice like that, but I knew that a consultation was at least warranted. When we met, I almost immediately felt the connection I was seeking in a therapist, and which I had never before found with prior therapists in my past. I honestly did not expect that! She is a great listener and towards the end of my sessions, she always leaves me with solid ideas or other resources to help improve my mindset. Well, Cori successfully got me through that unsettling and unstable portion of my life, and for that, I am eternally grateful! BUT, even with a "Mission Accomplished", I had ZERO desire to stop seeing her, even though by that time, I no longer worked downtown and seeing her became less convenient for me, and remains such to this day.
Life always presents challenges, and she continues to help me get through each and every one of them. Cori has also graciously been willing to spend some time outside the office "off the clock" to look over some emails involving my 70 year old mother, who is causing me a lot of personal distress, in order that Cori and I could spend our office time wisely, discussing the issues rather than me spending the time reading her the multitude of emails. She asked for nothing and would accept nothing. That was extraordinary! This is not just a job for her. She clearly loves her work and is GREAT at what she does, and it REALLY shows!!
Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the fact that I am going to be moving to the Detroit area in a few months. Most people in that situation would find a new therapist in their new neighborhood rather than keeping a therapist who is a 5 hour drive away! However, I will not be one of those people because of the relationship I have built with Cori. I plan to visit Chicago at least quarterly for a number of reasons, but one of the top reasons is that I want to continue this professional relationship with her. Yes, it is really unfortunate that I will not be able to see her regularly as I do now. But I would rather continue the relationship with this extraordinary therapist, albeit less often, than to start anew with somebody locally who will never match up to what I have found and built with Cori. On this 5 star scale, I would unquestionably give her 10 stars, and I assure you that I am not being compensated for this review! She has been, and continues to be there for me whenever there are stressful life issues to tackle (which seems to always be the case--that's life), and she has had an incredible impact on my life. I simply will NOT easily give that up!! read more
