Their commitment to teaching the Word of God in its fullness, their desire to see believers grow spiritually, and their dedication to cultivating an atmosphere where the presence of God is genuinely experienced were all significant factors in my decision. I'm truly grateful to call Harvest my church home and deeply appreciative of Pastor Jon Smith and Dr. Elizabeth Garcia-Smith for their mentorship and exemplary leadership, as well as the entire pastoral team and staff. They shepherd and serve the people of God with excellence. If you're looking for a thriving, Spirit‑filled church with a life‑giving community, I highly recommend Harvest Church.

When I found Harvest Church and met Pastor John and Pastor Elizabeth, I immediately felt welcomed. They are some of the most humble, loving, kind, and authentic people I have ever met. The other pastors are also kind and welcoming. They have a wonderful staff at Harvest. I've attended churches in the Sacramento area for many years, including one I attended for over 11 years, and never once did I feel as welcomed and embraced as I did at Harvest Church. What really stood out to me is how much this church pours into the community. From grief counseling, marriage classes, care giver support classes to mission trip opportunities, you can truly see their heart for serving others and giving back. I believe that is exactly what a church should do, not only receive, but also help, support, and love the community around them. I highly recommend Harvest Church to anyone looking for a place to worship, grow spiritually, and genuinely feel at home. I'm so thankful that my family found this beautiful church so close to our home.

Inside the building, there's a café selling pastries and specialty coffee with comfortable seating areas. Restrooms were clean, bright, and spacious with plenty of stalls. The women's restroom also includes a nursing/changing room for mothers and babies. The worship center itself has very high ceilings and feels bright, airy, clean, and well air-conditioned without being overly cold. The church appears to have a very organized and fully functional volunteer team including worship, musicians, ushers, kids ministry, and even a rotating sign language interpretation team for both worship and sermon. Worship music is modern contemporary Christian music (Elevation Worship, etc.). A nice touch was that after each song, they displayed the song title and credited the artist on screen. They provide printed sermon notes, which helps the congregation stay engaged and take notes during teaching. On the back side are weekly Life Group discussion questions and prayer note sections for the upcoming week. At the end of service, there is a prayer team (around 10 people at the front) available for anyone wanting personal prayer. This week they also launched church merchandise: hats for $20 and t-shirts for $16. The sermon itself was Bible-based and taught in depth. Their Life Groups include categories for adults, marriage & family, men, women, and elders. A couple areas for improvement: - I didn't notice any traffic coordinators in the parking lot. - The OHP/lyrics coordinator missed several song lyric transitions during worship, which made it harder for some people unfamiliar with the songs to continue singing along smoothly. Overall, the church felt welcoming, organized, and focused on both worship and biblical teaching.

I served under Pastor Justin for approximately 16 years, first at Grace Bible Church in Fair Oaks…read moreand later at Redeemer Bible Church. Because of the length of time I spent there, I believe I have a meaningful perspective on my experience with the church's leadership. Throughout those years, I repeatedly experienced Justin as harsh, dismissive, and lacking the humility and compassion that I personally believe Scripture calls pastors to demonstrate. While others may have had different experiences, this was consistently mine over many years. During my marriage, I repeatedly reached out to Justin, his wife Katelyn, and the elders seeking help regarding serious concerns within my home. I brought these concerns to church leadership on numerous occasions, hoping for biblical guidance, protection, and accountability. Instead, I felt my concerns were minimized or dismissed. One conversation has stayed with me. During a meeting with Justin and other elders, Justin stated words to the effect of, "If I punched my wife in the face ten years ago, that doesn't make me an abuser," and that if I brought my concerns before a judge, the judge would likely see my husband as "a good man with good character." Hearing those statements while seeking help was deeply discouraging. As I continued raising concerns, I felt increasing pressure to stop discussing what I believed was abuse and to reconcile by bringing my husband back into the home. During that same period, I understood that the church was providing financial assistance to my husband for over a year while my children and I were struggling financially. I also became aware that after receiving financial assistance from the church, he purchased a $300 tattoo. That was very difficult for me to understand. I also raised concerns about my husband's conduct and judgment that I believed church leadership should carefully evaluate before continuing to recommend him for ministry opportunities. From my perspective, those concerns were not taken seriously. Eventually, after continuing to advocate for myself and my children, I was placed under church discipline and my membership was removed. The process left me feeling isolated rather than cared for, and I felt discouraged from maintaining relationships within the church community. Because of my experience, I would encourage anyone in an abusive or destructive marriage to carefully consider whether this church is equipped to provide the kind of support and protection they may need. I also felt there was very little support or discipleship available for women navigating these situations. I was left feeling isolated and carrying that burden largely on my own. Every situation is different, but my experience was that preserving the marriage was prioritized over fully hearing and addressing my concerns. For those in abusive marriages who are looking for a biblical perspective, I found the book Abused, Abandoned and Divorced by Steve Swartz to be a valuable resource that helped me process issues I did not feel were adequately addressed during my time at this church. I recognize that others may have had positive experiences here. This review reflects only my own experience after serving under this leadership for sixteen years.

Although much of the congregation embodies warmth and desire Christlikeness, some of the counseling team and specific pastors fail to acknowledge and take responsibility for the harm caused. There is a severe lack of support for women, specifically those who have experienced mistreatment within marriage. Though the elders believe they are upholding the sufficiency of scripture, women have felt unheard, disbelieved and further harmed in their "care". Furthermore, we have been disheartened in advocating for structural change and accountability in the counseling provided, as of recent. Counselor's may become certified through ACBC (Association of Certified Biblical Counselors), but not all are. I highly recommend asking questions regarding topics of abuse and what they believe to be scriptural "grounds for divorce". It would be beneficial to have this in writing to reference, for your protection. The understanding of modern fields of science, such as psychology (cognitive/personality disorders and neurodivergence) and relational abuse/trauma are discredited and mishandled. Women have suffered health issues from being pressured to remain and return to destructive marriages, without proper support. Guilt, fear and shame are used and disguised as a "call to obedience" and allegiance to God. As a member, you may face church discipline or excommunication if directives are not followed. The way I was treated made me distrustful of church leadership, the exercise of power, authority and Biblical control. If you think you may be experiencing abuse (even if not physical), please seek help from a trained & licensed therapist who specializes in trauma.

The pastor is very knowledgeable about the Bible, intelligent, welcoming and he makes a point of meeting newcomers and visitors. We arrived early so we could choose our seats. I suffer from anxiety, so I prefer to sit where I feel comfortable and know I can easily step out if I need to. Right before Mass began, a tall white man who appeared to be helping with the service approached us and simply said, "Move." There was no "please" or polite explanation. Then another man said, "We are five," as if expecting us to move immediately, again without asking politely. I didn't appreciate being spoken to so rudely. I understand that people may need seats together, but arriving late does not entitle anyone to expect others to move for their convenience--especially without basic courtesy. That experience made me feel unwelcome, and unfortunately, I never returned to that church. To the tall gentleman who assisted at the 5:00 p.m. Mass (if you are still serving there): please remember that kindness and respect matter. A simple "please" and a courteous explanation can make all the difference. You never know what someone else may be going through, and a little compassion can help ensure everyone feels welcome in God's house
