Found this wonderful Thift Store going through Facebook. Very Helpful and friendly employees. One of the days I was there pulled my heart strings I overheard the manager talking to someone who was living in not a good situation she said let me make a call. She came back to the customer and said I talked to vice president, and she said your bill is all set for today. Not only do they care for Animals, but they make sure members of the community are cared for as well. The Manager Christine was so kind to make that happen it touched me how she truly cared deeply about the customer's that come in. I am adding this due to how someone has been saying unkind things about the shop and the manager, and I believe it's a personal attack because they know someone who just quit. The Shop is small but don't let that fool you they get many cute and wonderful things. I come in weekly and just love the place glad I found this little spot of heaven. read more

Very helpful and friendly. I donated because my local SPCA Thrift Shop in Nelson County is being forced to move and can't accept donations. Very nice store - well laid out - prices reasonable - with proceeds going to Amhurst County SPCA - Please come and support!! read more

I LOVE this thrift shop! Best in the area and always has reasonable prices! All proceeds go to the cats and workers are volunteers! I have gotten some amazing deals here! read more

This place is awesome. It is a small thrift store, the photo is a little deceptive. They had a good selection of household items. The proceeds go to the humane society so why wouldn't you want to shop here (unless you are heartless and hate animals). There is a lady who donates plants, she loves these plants and on the one I bought gave very careful watering instructions. my husband bought a CD for $1 and they had a really cool serving dish (sorry you can't have it because I bought it). You better check this place out next time your on 29 in Amherst, VA. read more

Thrifty Paws is your typical thrift shop, nothing exceptionally spectacular. It appears to be well-organized, with easy to access inventory. There is a diverse selection of things from house ware items, clothing and books, to pet-related items as well. Inventory changes often, so it's best to just stop in and see what they have. Prices are a little on the high side for a thrift store, but the proceeds go to the Amherst County Humane Society. It's a pretty small shop, but they make the best of it. Expect to pay the price that is marked -- they do not bargain. read more

I love Thrifty Paws!! All the proceeds benefit The Humane Society of Amherst County and what is better than cheap stuff that helps homeless animals?!? I disagree with the previous poster about the prices being a little high. They actually have some of the lowest prices as far as thrift stores are concerned, I usually make a donation because they are so cheap. Be sure to say hi to Paws, the black and white kitty who is the store mascot. She loves attention and is usually hanging out inside or out front! Keep up the good work, Thrifty Paws!! read more

Love Thrifty Paws! A little bit of everything with inventory that can change frequently. Sorry, Dan M, but I have bought some Spectacular things here! A beautiful rug for my living room, an original landscape oil, and a pair of the most awesome, Art Deco style lamps - not to mention the very reasonably priced pieces of mid-century dinnerware. Do they have items like this every day? Of course not. But, I rarely leave empty handed and the changing inventory is a good reason to keep going back. Oh, did I mention that the staff is wonderful and friendly? read more

I LOVE Thrifty Paws!! I've been there 3 times thus far and have purchased every time! Found some great items that I put to immediate use! I also have a friend who is losing weight, went there and purchased some "transition" clothes and was thrilled about what he got. It looked brand new but was cheaper than a well known thrift store! The greatest thing about Thrifty Paws is that 100% of the profit from what they sell goes to help the Amherst Humane Society. Not only will I continue to shop there, but I'll also be donating in the future!! read more

After having yard sales for years the Humane Society of Amherst County decided to try running a thrift store to get a steadier revenue stream to help the animals. The store has been a great success thanks to the donations and patronage of local residents.

They no longer provide shopping bags but are pleased to charge a buck for the kind of tote-bags many charitable outfits send me for free. The CDs doubled in price and the knick-nacks are also quite a bit more expensive. Clothing is up a little. Glassware has gone up a lot and new goods are prominently displayed at regular retail prices. The books have been relegated to the back o7f the store and a nice lady who organized the books is not there any more. They are no longer organized in any manner.

It's a medium sized location with separate areas for men, women, appliances, furniture, electronics. I usually go in looking for particular things which I did not find this time. The good thing about goodwill is there will always be a new variety and by supporting them you are also supporting their cause to employ people with disabilities and/or disadvantages. I always look forward to what I might find next!

The top of the $400 dresser I bought was covered with a runner and on top of the runner was a…read moreselection of several large lamps for sale and several Knick Knack/tchotchke items for sale. Although I looked over the dresser, opened the drawers, etc., I did not move all the lamps and many assorted knick knacks. I then paid for the dresser and made arrangements to pick it up the following day. When I returned to pick it up, there was a VERY LARGE split in the wood, ALL the way across the entire top of the dresser and way too wide to repair by any method. This major damage had been covered by the runner, the lamps and the knick knacks. So . . . Usually, normally, sellers will be transparent about damage, flaws, chips, cracks etc., and then it's up to the buyer to move forward with the purchase or not. Because the damage was so extensive, I did not think the dresser could be transported without breaking completely in two. Because the damage was hidden/concealed, I felt deceived. I pointed this out to the staff, who launched into their "no refunds" spiel before I could even finish my sentence. I was rather abruptly offered to the "opportunity" to leave the dresser (and my $400) behind if I no longer wanted it. Still, I extend Kudos to Twice Is Nice for serving seniors in need!! Thank you to the volunteers who offer their time. Thank you to the folks who donate. If an item is damaged, you don't have to attach flashing lights or a neon sign, but it's not "nice" to cover it up, then pile it high with multiple heavy items making the damage almost impossible to detect until too late to make an informed purchase decision.

I have yet to find a more reasonably priced thrift shop in our area. The clothing is so cheap but the quality is wonderful, most clothing items are $ 1. There are extremely reasonably priced items and the selection changes hourly. I love to go in and find new treasures. I am so glad all the purchases go to help homeless animals at the Humane Society of Amherst County !!! that is the best part read more

I love this little store! Lots of goodies, fast turnover of stock, friendly people, reasonable prices, and you do good shopping there, too! Doesn't get too much better than that. We're sure to check in at least once a week (usually more) and we've found some real treasures. Great place to buy new and used things from all proceeds go to Amherst humane Animal shelter . They have clothes some baby and child , adult men's women , odds and ends, crystal , glass wear, small furniture, appliances and house hold goods and pet supplies and all kids of toys and games . read more
