This place has changed name multiple times but I think whoever is the new owner, knows how to decorate this place. The atmosphere of this coffeeshop is very nice and the lighting is very on point I must say. There is a balanced combo of wood work, art pieces and plants in this places which makes it very welcoming. I like how the place is sectioned into different parts and there are different types of seating available, coaches, chairs and high chairs. So far I have only tried their cappuccino but it is decent and I have to try it more to see how consistent it is. The server was very nice and they also provide free water. The music is a very chill music and more toward low beat and ambient. All in all a great place to hang out. I am glad I came here again and will be visiting more often! read more

The Place is super cute inside and has business rooms and large area for social distancing or working remotely. We tried the gelato, a scone and the claredon fog. We sat outside as we had a pup with us. The scone was undercooked and would have been better warm. The gealto was good. The tea was hints of rose or light fruit. Three Whistles is an incredible space to cowork on the weekend. The combination of earthy decor, great music selection, spacing that allows for work and catching up without disturbing others, and excellent food and drinks makes for the perfect brunch and learn for my friend and I. Having been on both Saturday and Sunday, both days don't typically begin to get packed until 1pm but the feeling of warmth and productivity is able to maintained as most people around as also working, reading, relaxing, and or eating/drinking. The manager is always incredible and remembers my friend and I which is amazing considering the amount of guests they must see weekly and we come pretty sporadic. If I were to name this review, I'd call it "a blast from the past." My fellow 90s kids will understand. Three whistles is a great place to go if you miss the nostalgia of the 90s and early 2000s. Why? 1. The "dial-up" internet speeds. I went to Three Whistles to do some light work. I went twice- both times it was moderately busy. The internet was SO SLOW I could not do ANYTHING. I asked the lady at the counter if there was a paid version, as I was even willing to upgrade as I could do nothing on my PC. She said it just "depended on the usage. Ok- that's not her fault, but why is there no options, and why can't this place handle its crowds? They clearly can't keep up with the bandwidth. I had to leave this was after I'd parked, settled in, and grabbed my coffee after setting up my laptop. 2. The lack of electronic ordering and/or waitstaff. I just love getting up from my seat after I settled in, leaving my laptop unattended- especially when there is only two staff, and it takes forever to get my items. There's no QR code and no online ordering. Now, this may sound like I'm just whining, but, they actually do have an active online site- that will charge you, but somehow is not connected to their system. The first time I went here, I "ordered online" on a toast website, paid, went to the counter, and they said, "oh sorry, that wasn't supposed to be available, but what did you get?" Um, excuse me? What if I came from somewhere and I'd ordered and arrived expecting pick up? Don't you think you should shut that down? 3. The "friendly" service. Yes- places aren't like what they used to be with the one on one friendly customer service. And I just love waiting forever while the staff chats with every single person before me for way too long. I don't mind a bit, but this was excessive- as I nervously kept an eye on my stuff from a distance. And it wasn't "talk while I work"- it was "stop and talk while others wait." When I got to the front, I think the person could tell I was annoyed (though I didn't say anything, I'm sure it was my demeanor) because she did not talk to me at all. I'm not hurt by that- I hope I did a service to the poor people behind me by speeding up my turn. I realize my snark is strong here. My experience at this place was annoying and frustrating, and I will not go back. read more

Absolutely a gem with some unexpected delights! I happened upon Three Whistles while getting to know the new area I just moved to. A natural coffee fanatic, I was looking for my new local haunt. Upon walking in, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered my normal iced coffee, but was surprised by all the other options. Gelato, baked goods, and empanadas! I came back at a later date to try the empanadas and really enjoyed it. Crispy on the outside, deliciously filled and tasty on the outside. Even though the food items were fantastic, I have to admit I really admired and loved the open space of the shop. I've been coming here for many years and have seen the gradual transformation into one of the best coffee shops in the area. Any chance I get, I take friends, classmates, business partners, pretty much anyone I can to this place. Not only is their coffee and gelato amazing, the ambiance is perfect for a range of things including remote work, reading, or just hangin around. Music isn't too loud during the day, and wifi works just fine. If I still lived in the area, I would probably have a coworking subscription as well. Their staff/service is also great. It's one of the few coffee shops that will take your order and bring it to you while you hang out at your seat. No need to wait around to get called. I've always been a fan. My go-to local coffee shop! The staff is so friendly and if you are dining in they will bring your drink directly to you, a small but appreciated detail. I once remarked that I wanted to try a sip of my husbands latte and the barista brought me a small cup of his latte flavor in addition to mine. They have a variety and large amount of seating, so we can always sit in a cozy chair if we're lounging or at a sturdier table for projects and focused work. Perhaps one of the greatest things, their food and pastry selection is exceptional. We came here for some gelato and really enjoyed it. The only reason I gave a 4/5 review was because I bit into a small piece of plastic in my gelato. Other than that, the interior where you can get your work done, enjoy a small coffee date with yourself or some friends was very beautiful. Whole Foods is across the street and there are plenty of shops surrounding you in the Clarendon area. I would definitely come back to get some work done and try a pastry. They also have a small parking area in the back which is super convenient, since as many of you know, Arlington parking is quite the challenge. Came here for a study date with my friend and we stayed for a good while, studying and enjoying our food/drink. While there weren't a ton of people there, everyone we saw was sitting far apart, but I'm not sure if they actually enforce social distancing. I also saw a couple of staff members walking around without masks at multiple points, which was... troublesome. I got a pistachio affogato, and it was heavenly! I wasn't really in the mood for the double scoop affogato they have on the menu, and the staff member who helped us was very nice and accommodating and gave me a small size. The pistachio gelato itself was very good, and the espresso was nice and roasty without being overly bitter. The crema held up well while I ate as well. My friend got a hot chocolate, and it was HUGE and very pretty! It came in a for-here mug with whipped cream and drizzles of chocolate and caramel. She said it was very good. As far as food goes, we asked about the menu, and he told us that the usual chef was not there (?) and that there were only a few menu items available. I didn't order anything to eat, but my friend got the grilled cheese. Sadly, when it came out, the cheese wasn't even really melted. She said it was still fine and ate it anyway, but it was for sure a bit disappointing. So I was what you might call a "regular" of Boccato, back in the day when I lived in Arlington and before the cafe's makeover into CoworkCafe. Happily, except for the name change, this quirky little cafe is still its wonderful self. Same weird and random furniture, same awesome empanadas from Julia's empanadas, same delicious gelato, same great coffee selection. In fact, the place has upgraded! The staff is nicer; there is more than one bathroom and they are well-lit and not creepy; and for those who use the space for work, there are phone booths to hold private conversations/meetings, access to Internet and printers, lockers, and power outlets everywhere. If you are not using Cowork as your remote workspace (which will cost you a membership of $150 per month), go for a cup of coffee, or a scoop or two of gelato, or an empanada (the Chilean Beef is my favorite) and curl up in one of their sofas with a good book or to people-watch. A few years ago, this place was known as Boccato, an Italian espresso and gelato shop. It also served Julia's empanadas and some pastries. That was good back then. Five stars for the coffee and gelato shop part. It started transitioning to a cowork cafe, say, maybe five or so years ago and has completely transitioned a couple or so years ago as it no longer holds the name Boccato I wouldn't rate the cowork space high mainly because I have other preferences for a coworker space, which include free and unlimited color printing, multiple locations, and networking events. However, what is unique about CoworkCafe is that it is a local space with food and drink allowance with your membership. If I needed a single space to do work in the area, drink coffee, and eat gelato and other foods, while not needing unlimited color printing, I'd def consider CoworkCafe. However, I'd hate how dark it gets after sunset... it's too dim for my work preference. There is also free parking in the back which is nice if I were to stay a long while. If you're not a member of the CoworkCafe, WiFi usage would be limited to a certain time and/or making purchases so plan ahead before thinking of staying a while. I would come back here again for a quick cup of coffee and gelato break. Oh and by the way, the gelato is from Dolci Gelato :) read more
