This is one of the largest schools in Indiana, as far as I recall them cramming down our throats. When I was there I think the enrollment was at something like 2,600 or 2,800. It's a tri-town school that takes students from Dyer, St. John and Schererville (that's me). And it's really not a bad school if you don't want it to be. I mean, sure, I hated half of high school... but who doesn't? Eh. Nothing new. I made awesome friends here, even if I don't talk to a lof of them anymore. I slacked for a decent chunk of my high school career (in some classes I didn't... notably my Computer Applications classes and my Arts & Crafts classes) when I really shouldn't have (can't really change that at this point) but not many of my teachers were classifable as 'bad'... some were certainly more boring than others, but there were some outstanding ones to balance it out. And even if I didn't do a lot of my homework (doh) I still did fairly well in class... so my teachers mostly just pressed me to try to do my homework. Which I kind of didn't... uh... but let's not talk about that, really. Yeah, looking back I really have to admit it wasn't half bad. I'd like to go back and see some of my teachers. If I ever decided to spawn (no thanks), I wouldn't really have an issue sending my kids here. It's really a pretty decent school in a nice area. I hated it while I was there, but looking back I'm pretty sure it was a decent education. Yeah. Sorry I slacked so much in C++, Wally! Science Olympiad 4 lyfe. Also, seriously, woman? That chalk piece you had me put in the NWI Art Show was fucking hideous and I hated it. HOORAY. But I do appreciate the placement in the extracurricular figure drawing classes.

I wish that my daughter hadn't decided to go here, she had the opportunity to go somewhere else. She was registered and classes all set up for her to start school but had a falling out with a friend and said she wanted to switch to Kennendy. If you Google this school you will find a few stories of these terrible situations but they aren't all there in the news and I'm not talking about FB news feed. Almost every single time I am at the school there is a fight. And no that isn't normal. There is a huge bullying problem too! My daughter that graduated last year was a victim and even though it was reported and the police were in the room at the time when they told the student to stop or else they would step in it still went on. I'm not posting this to "cry/whine" about the school but to help other parents.

I work in the Student Advising Center department and love the amazing team that I work with. We're all passionate & want to make sure students are set up for success and I hope the students can see that. Such beautiful campus! Be wary of the many geese that like to hangout on campus & squirrels in the trash cans lol. Benefits: They have really good benefits here at SXU such has good health insurance, 403(b), FREE graduate school at SXU (just need to pay some sort of fee each term/semester), professional development opportunities, you are able to teach TS-100: Transitions (1-credit course required for first-year students) only if you have a Master's degree, etc. I'm planning to start the MBA program this coming fall (Fall 2025) and I'm excited! Work Environment: The staff I've interacted with so far have always been friendly & welcoming whether that is my colleagues or fellow staff from various departments. Collaboration is always encouraged but rarely happens except for big events like first-year orientation known as ROAR (Registration, Orientarion, & Academic Readiness), ACSD (Advising & Career Success Day), etc. I'd love to have more opportunities to collaborate with various departments. Overall Experience: Overall, I've been loving & enjoying my time working here at SXU. Staff are friendly & welcoming! Most students tend to be understanding with the information shared with them by academic advisors and other staff members. I hope this review helps current & future students, staff, & faculty. Have an amazing day!

My prayers goes to all the students to succeed and continue their education and follow their dreams. In God We Trust.
