So very, very happy with Thoma's Tree Service. I had them remove a silver maple in my yard that was rotted out. I got 4 quotes and Thoma beat them all. They removed the maple, ground the stump down about 12 inches, and asked if I wanted the wood chips removed. Fortunately for me, I had a need for more mulch in my flower beds. They were fast, efficient, and neat. Thoma and his crew do all the work. His wife does the office work. They gave me a quote same day I called. I waited for the other quotes to come in. Once I decided on Thoma, they were here the next day. Can't say that always happens. He beat the highest quote by $900. He is extremely easy to work with. I've read all the other reviews here on Yelp. The negative reviews were nothing like what I saw and worked with. Highly recommend this group. Had Thoma's come over for a trim on our back tree and to cut three branches off. They were the cheapest of the quotes we got. They arrived later in the day, rushed before it got dark, were probably only there for about 15 minutes, didn't trim our tree at all and sliced about 6 branches off when we only wanted three. Someone from this company left an ad on our door handle and rang the doorbell. I normally don't get solicitors, and I was scared by an unknown person ringing the doorbell and did not answer the door. A few days later, someone aggressively rang the doorbell by repeatedly pushing the doorbell multiple times, like an emergency was happening. My family member answered the door, and they asked if we wanted to remove a tree in our front yard. We said no, it's not necessary. They said, "Oh yeah, but it's not okay." And they left abruptly. They cut down my neighbors tree with no regard for the bushes and tree on my property. Dropping large branches onto and smashing them. In addition the managed to cut my dog fence and ripped it out in the area they're working. I called the owners and was told they were doing me a favor. I was also told to instruct the workers not to damage my property. Typical hack workers. Just get it done the fastest way possible and hope to not get caught. read more

A wind storm broke a tree in our backyard and it was hanging over the fence to our neighbors. Not wanting it to fall and cause them any trouble, we needed a tree service quickly. I saw good reccs for Thoma's on Facebook so we gave them a call. Since they re so local to our area, they were able to stop by same day and give an estimate. The estimate for a tree removal/grind up plus trim of some of our other overgrown trees seemed reasonable so we booked them. They were able to come a few days later which was great. If you see this contractor in your neighborhood, block your driveway and access to your yard. They were hired by my neighbor to remove a number of trees. Since this neighbor had a firepit, tennis court and other things making the removals difficult, these people, without permission, drove their trucks and heavy equipment down my driveway, across my yard, and cut down my bushes to obtain easy access to the trees in my neighbor's yard. They made their job easy by destroying my property. They did over $2500 of damage to my yard. They refuse to tell me who they are insured with so I can make a claim. Unbelievable. read more

I was totally impressed at the steps taken to ensure safety for himself, and also to prevent limbs from hitting the House and bushes on the way down. This family run business was recommended to us by a neighbor who had a very favorable estimate given to them for similar work we needed done (dead tree removal, tree trimming over our home and massive buckthorn infestation cleared from back.) They responded quickly to my request for an estimate and were able to schedule the service within a day since they were still doing work with our neighbor down the street. Crew was polite and thorough. All debris cleared and property was left in excellent condition. My only negative was that they initially said they would arrive at 9:30am, but did not arrive until 10:45am. A phone call to inform me of an unforeseen delay would have been nice. We had part of a tree in our front yard fall on our garage and my car. I chopped up as much of it as I could on my own but there came a time when I realised that I would not be able to completely cut this tree down on my own. Upon searching online for a tree service, I tried several, most of which either didn't seem professional or wouldn't come out for just one tree. I called Thoma's Tree Service twice, leaving a message both times and they finally responded. The price seemed too good to be true, $400 to remove the tree and another $50 to remove the stump. Well, after they finally showed up to my home (took them 3 days to come out from the date they said they would actually arrive) they made quick work of the tree and I couldn't have been happier to pay them the entire $450! I was told that I needed to have a site survey performed and would need to complete that via "JULE". I requested the assessment and in no time my front and backyard had little flags all over the place. I then relayed this to Thoma's Tree Service via voicemail. Needless to say, despite having been told by the mother (real mom and pop shop) that all I needed to do was resupply my home address, no one has yet to return to remove the stump. I've also played phone tag with the son, who makes statements about coming to remove the stump yet never delivered. Granted, it was just $50, it's $50 that I no longer have and I had to deal with the stump on my own. So, if you want to roll the dice, roll with Thoma! read more

The owner of Thoma Tree Service responded quickly to my request for an estimate. I had a couple of trees to remove and a large pile of brush. The crew was very polite and efficient and arrived at the time promised. In about two hours. the trees and the brush pile were removed and the area raked and cleaned. The stump removal was scheduled about 10 days later because the grinder was in for repairs. On a Friday night at about 6:30 I heard some noise in the backyard and to my surprise the owner was grinding out the stumps of both trees.
