The first year was uneventful but this last tax year has been unreal! We have a pretty simple tax profile. No businesses, mortgages, or kids. Just some K-1's, 1099's, and aW2. Due to the brokerages always sending corrections to their 1099's I figured we wouldn't get our taxes done until the last moment. As the tax deadline loomed I started calling to find out the status of our tax returns and was told each time, "She is work on it." The April 2018 tax deadlines came and went. I was told an extension was filed. After asking about penalties and interest, if we owed any taxes, I was told they would cover them. "Just bring in any IRS letter you get." Time passed...nothing. I called the Morrison Consulting office numerous times each time I could only talk with the office staff who indicated they had no access to any information. When asked to talk to Leah was told one of several excuses. "She is in a meeting", "Not there", "Out of town at a training", "but she is working on it". Finally in June I "Messenger" Leah and actually got a response on 6/19/2018. I was told she had had some personal issues and that she should have them for me on 6/25/2018. That deadline came and went with no contact from the Morrison office unless I made it. Again I received more of the same. No tax returns, no answers and no Leah. On July 18 and 22 I attempted to contact Leah though "Messenger" again. No response. Up until the tax extension deadline of 10/15/2018, I kept calling and I even stopped in the Morrison office. A couple of time at the end I lost my temper. One time, when I kept demanding to know how many other clients are receiving this kind of poor customer service, the Morrison's staff hung up on me. The extension deadline came and was told they would e-file by the deadline. I called the next day a couple of times and finally was told they were printing the return. When I picked up my paper copy I was told no charge. The first time I had a positive feeling with this situation. We owe state taxes so I figured there would be some penalties. I went home contacted the state and found out what they would be. I called the Morrison office to let them know what the fees and penalties were so I could be reimbursed. Was told if I wanted those covered I would need to pay for the return prep. I said that is not what was promised each time I had brought up the subject. Got a similar response when I pushed... "Will let Leah know"... at that point I gave up. I figure I will never see the $. Never thought I would never get my tax return e-filed to either the Feds or state. 24 days go by. I see my state tax payment with fees clear the bank but no Fed refund. I called both state and fed they have no record of the return being e-filed. Now I'm freaking. I again called the Morrison office and got the... we don't know anything...we have no access to anything ...we have to contact Leah who was out of town until Tuesday 4 days away. They would get info and call me on that Tuesday. Tuesday of course came and went...no call. I called on Weds and was told that Leah pointed out that my husband hadn't signed the e-filing form. I signed the form the day I picked up our tax return and was told they had e-filed by the deadline the night before. I figure I was done with these people so I didn't push hubby into stopping in. Also, after reviewing the paper copy of my taxes return the day after I got them. I called to make sure that they had e-filed because their canned cover letter gave mailing addresses on where to mail the returns. Was told no need they had e-filed. At this point I lost it again... I want proof you filed... I will have my husband in your office ASAP. The staff response was, "oh no can't do that they don't have access to the formed. Leah has to.." Around 4:30pm the Morrison staff emailed the form through their personal email since the Morrison email was down. I emailed and faxed the form back to the office asking for proof of filing. Next day I called and asked if they had gotten the signed form. Yes they had. When I asked about getting the e-filing confirmation they indicated it would be coming Leah is the only one with that access. The State and Fed staff I had talked to suggested I give it another week to see if the Morrison company e-filing would come through. On 11/26/2018 I again called the State and Feds and they reported no 2017 returns have been received. I again called the Morrison office and asked what is going on. That again the state and feds have no record of them e-filing my returns. Was again told Leah was not there but was schedule to be at another meeting at 3 PM. I state that I needed to hear from them by 3pm or I was coming in and getting a copy of my returns so I could mail them in. As usually I got no response. I made copies and mailed them in.
