History

Established in 1981.

In 1981, Mr Harry Ridgwell started Thomas Lloyd as a small business dedicated to making stylish leather sofas at affordable prices. In order to keep prices down, he pioneered the then novel idea of selling quality leather furniture by cutting out the retailer and selling direct to the public. Nowadays, with the rise of online shopping, everything you buy seems to come direct. However, back then it really was a bold and unique concept and one that has proven immensely successful and which we have stuck with ever since. Thirty years later, Thomas Lloyd is still a family business run by Mr Ridgwell's two sons, Tom and Lloyd, and has grown into one of the largest manufacturers of hand-made quality leather furniture in the UK. At Thomas Lloyd we have always believed in British quality, which is why all of our furniture is still produced exclusively here in the United Kingdom.
