This school is a hidden gem of SFUSD. The partnership between the PTA and the school site is really good, allowing them to raise money to hire science specialists, and art and drama specialists to offer hands on programming to the kids at all grade levels every week. The Mandarin Immersion program is a real draw, considering that only one other elementary school in SFUSD has this option. By and large the teachers are experienced and highly dedicated; sure occasionally you will have the "not the greatest" teacher but I think that's to be expected across 6 years of elementary school. I cannot comment on the special day programming, as we didn't take advantage of that option with my kids. I believe they have a special Day Pre-K program and several specialists to assist with to students' IEP's. But I can comment that the community overall is highly diverse, focused on equity in education, lots of very welcoming community events, and definitely worth a look.

The faculty, PTA, and students all value and demonstrate high academic standards, emotional intelligence, and positive community building. Additionally, we have never had any issues with bullying or having our questions/concerns ignored. I still remember our principal, Dr. Diane Lau-Yee, emailing us personally on our inconsolable eldest daughter's first day of Transitional Kindergarten over three years ago, reassuring us that she was able to calm down and have fun the rest of the day. It showed us that leadership at RLS is truly invested in the students' wellbeing and growth. We are amazed at how Dr. Lau-Yee and the rest of the RLS staff can remember the names and personalities of all the many students in attendance. The affordable afterschool programs (KEEP, ExCEL) we have utilized at RLS allow for convenient flexibility for us as working parents. And the after school staff are equally attentive and kind with the students. Peace-of-mind knowing all three of our children are picked up from school healthy and happy is invaluable. RLS is falls into the Sunset District schools that start earlier, at 7:50AM, and dismisses earlier as well (in comparison to other schools in the neighborhood that start later in the morning at 9:30M). This works out well for our family and I'd imagine for other working parents with early morning meetings and onsite start times as students may be dropped off early, between 7:30-7:35AM, for breakfast. RLS is an exceptional school with respectful, genuinely caring, and positive staff, parents, and student body. Your child(ren) will be well cared for here.

I had heard plenty of concerns about the lottery system and staffing challenges within SFUSD, but this school is truly a gem. We feel incredibly lucky to be here. At the heart of RLS is our exceptional principal, who somehow remembers every student, parent, sibling, and even grandparent by name. She knows my second grader likes to sneak up and say "boo!" to people and that my fourth grader has invented her own bird language. She is fair, thoughtful, deeply knowledgeable, and an outstanding leader. She has also been a careful and transparent steward of the school's budget, ensuring resources are used thoughtfully to support students. Every teacher we've had has taken the time to truly know and understand my kids as individuals. I've been especially impressed with the emphasis on social-emotional learning and the way teachers create a safe, supportive classroom culture. From thoughtfully pairing my quieter child with potential playmates to proactively addressing bullying and conflict, the staff are helping us raise kind, resilient humans--not just strong students. My kids feel comfortable speaking up, asking questions, and being themselves. Academically, I've been equally impressed by how teachers meet students where they are and help them grow. One of my children is advanced in math and reading, yet she says she never feels bored. Her teachers consistently find ways to deepen and extend her learning while also fostering humility and collaboration. When my other child struggled with reading, her teacher went above and beyond--creating a short instructional video and practical tip sheets for parents on how to support active reading at home. It made me feel empowered and equipped to help. Parent-teacher conferences are always thoughtful, specific, and collaborative; we leave with clear goals and a shared plan. I also don't think people talk enough about how affordable and well-run the aftercare options are at RLS. The programs offer a variety of enriching activities while making a genuine effort to accommodate working families' schedules and needs. Beyond academics, we appreciate the community we're building. We've built meaningful friendships with families at classroom gatherings and school-wide events. My older child thinks the RLS robotics club is the most amazing activity ever--and it's run by dedicated parent and staff volunteers who give their time to create these opportunities. RLS has exceeded our expectations in every way. It's a place where students are known, challenged, supported, and celebrated. We are deeply grateful to be part of this community.

The principal, faculty, and staff truly care about each student and it shows. If you are considering private high school, I highly recommend St. Dunstan's to lay the academic foundation. My daughter loves her teachers and said that the high school entrance exam was relatively easy compared to what they are learning at St. Dunstan's. I've spoken to many parents who transferred their kids in for middle school who've said they wished they had started at St. Dunstan's sooner because it is such a welcoming and warm environment. They have a ton of extracurriculars and events. Sports intramurals for K-3 and competitive sports for 4-8th. We have musical theater classes and performances. As well as Spanish classes and technology. Every month there are family friendly events- from family movie night, Casino Night, Lobster Feed, the father/daughter dance, family bingo night, lady knights and men clubs events, and so many fun events. We have the spring festival and middle school dances. Fun Day with games and an end of year school wide picnic. The kids are kind, respectful, and inclusive. The parent community is amazing and we have made lifelong friendships with other families. Choosing St. Dunstan's for our kids is probably one of the best decisions we have made for their academic, emotional, and social well being. We are grateful to Dr. Sandoval and her team for creating an environment where our children are thriving!

We originally were very worried about his transition and leaving all his friends and his known environment. It has been smooth transition so far. The Families in St Dunstan are very welcoming to our family. My son doesn't normally play team sports that involved balls, he made an exception with the baseball team in St Dunstan. He has thrived so much over the last few months we transitioned. Not only his grades are excellent but also his mental wellbeing has improved so much. He was encouraged to participate more in the class and he did, which he didn't do in the previous school. He participated in the class Spelling Bee that required him to speak and spell in front of everyone which was impossible for him to do before. The school staffs are very nice. They are very attentive of my son and our families. The teachers that he has, have been so accommodating and supportive in making him thrive in school. The school has Science, technology, Spanish, Art in Action and Creative Art. I was allowed to teach how to plant tulips and vegetables in their school plots that the Science teacher incorporated it to his lesson. There are many Non Catholic families as well and you wouldn't feel that they weren't part of the community. In terms of education, I observe that some of the teachers are willing to give extra help to those that need help which they do outside of the school hours. They also have resource teachers for reading and mental health. I also see that there will be accelerated Math for those who are advanced in Math. This will start in 5th grade.

All 3 of our children have attended All Souls Catholic School with my eldest having graduated as part of the class of 2025. We've been here for 10 years. At All Souls, my children have found a warm home away from home, school curricula and extracurriculars that challenge them academically (such as the school's successful Academic Decathlon program for 6-8th graders), and paths to active athleticism fostered here. Outside of academics, parents and children come together to appreciate and kinder the spirit of family. We have never felt that All Souls is merely groups of students who share classes and distant parents that drop off and pick up their kids from school. We look out for each other, we come together to support each other and our children, and I have seen how my children have formed bonds that  transcend far beyond these walls. Transitioning back to the curriculum at All Souls, we've lived the incredible foundation and preparation it has provided my children. Our daughter (our eldest) profited greatly by all the academic resources in her daily classes and high school preparation provided here and currently attends Notre Dame Belmont as an honors student. With my two boys still attending All Souls, I am impressed by the rigor expected of them and how the teachers so seamlessly guide them and encourage them to learn. Communication is efficient and effective with the teachers and it is very clear to us that they give their best effort to their role. The new principal and all of the teachers that we've encountered are so enthusiastic about the school and the children and it makes us feel at ease leaving them at school each morning. I really hope that they bring back preschool or a t-k program because that is what really ingrained us and I think many others to the school.
