Car wouldn't start, but then it did after a jump. Went out of my way to use this place because of the great reviews and the mechanic was super rude to me. Literally wanted to pay these people to help me figure out what's wrong with my car and he would not just examine it and try to figure it out. Isn't that what a mechanic is supposed to do? I give them a zero for customer service. The mechanic is a big fat jerk. And so is the front desk guy who silently stood there and let the mechanic berate me when it was obvious I was uncomfortable. It would've been different if he had nicely told me there was nothing they could do, but he was a meanie. If you are a single woman, do not give this place your business. Whether it be just a simple oil change, or some actual maintenance work, I am never not 100% satisfied with the quality of work, explanation behind what's going on with my car, what they need to do, and estimating extremely accurately for how much it will cost to repair. (I honestly have been on a little streak where Wally will over quote me at first call once he gets to my car and then it's like $20-$30 cheaper when I go to pay.) This crew has easily put another 3-4 years of life on to my 2003 Honda - I'll continue coming back and I don't doubt I'll easily get my car to 300,000 miles with minimal maintenance needs with their help. Great local auto center for bay park. Had them install a subframe brace for my car in a pinch and they got me and made quick work of it. Also saved me when my battery died on my truck and they stayed open late to service and replace my battery. Lucky to have these guys a block from my house. read more

I took my car here because the A/C was broken. I'd recently gotten it fixed at another auto center but it broke again a couple of weeks later. I had left my invoice from the other auto center with them to look over. These gentlemen called me back to point out that I had a warranty on the receipt and should take it back to the other shop in order to save money. I wouldn't have known for the better if they'd just fixed it themselves and charged me for their service. I had the best luck. My old xterra Nissan broke in front of this shop. I think some one up there is looking up to me. My radiator and gasket were gone. I left it there to have fixed. The work was awesome. He stored my car for 2 days with my paddle boards on top of it and o felt at ease. He didn't try to up sell anything, his price was fantastic and he was always so professional. So we got stranded our 2015 Cadillac had leak in our coolant hose our temperature light came on and we had to stop fast but looking for a repair shop close. Not being from San Diego we didn't know anything about anything in the area. We found Thomas & Bros 2 mins from where we were so we took the risk and went there this is by far the best risk we could have taken. Wally greeted us and helped us. Remember that dealerships are closed and parts were not able to be ordered Wally made it work though he replaced my hose and only charged me 40 bucks for this repair. Had a power steering fluid leak in my Lincoln LS. After searching around for a mechanic, a friend of mine recommended this place. Wally was great at explaining everything and even took me into the garage to show my the problems they found. They fixed the issue and even tighten some loose bolts in the steering system I didn't know about. Everything was fixed within a couple of hours and they only charged me for one hour of labor. Right of the bat, I told the owner Wally, that a friend recommended the auto shop and that they would take care of not only my vehicle, but my pocketbook. That's exactly what happened. After they methodically diagnosed and fixed the problem, I knew that they would be my Go-Too-Guys. I have now cultivated a good working relationship with both Alex, the main mechanic and Wally and find them to be responsive, trustworthy and reliable. I'm very happy with their repair service and highly recommend this place. I like the fact that they always call you for authorization on any work they perform. No surprises here! There was a scam being run where someone begged me to help pay for the remaining portion of their repair (for a starter) at this shop. It seemed extremely suspicious but figured this was a legit business and maybe the guy really needed some help. I ended up helping and coming to this shop.... they stole my credit card information and ran up fraudulent charges a week later (probably assuming I wouldn't make the connection). First off i never review places on Yelp, but Thomas & Bros gets my 100% seal of approval. I went to them because i needed a STAR smog done on my 2003 Nissan 350z. The week prior my car was failed at a local Firestone due to not having 4cats. I then had to go to Nissan to find out how many cats were actually required. Woke up on Saturday (right before Christmas) and my clutch was not working. I freaked out thinking I was going to need a transmission overhaul! I called around 5 or 6 places that were open but no one had availability. Called Wally, and he told me to bring my car right away. Knowing I needed my car for work the next day, he was on it immediately. He called me within the hour, with a reasonable quote and told me he could push to have it done same day (on a Sat nonetheless!). I could have not asked for a better shop - they diagnosed my car quickly and accurately, they were honest and worked passed close time to finish so I could go to work the next day. It turned out to be the clutch master cylinder that needed replacement. Being a girl not knowing a thing about cars I feel like other mechanics have taken advantage of that situation. Not Wally! Came here last week for my front brakes asked Wally if it could be done by my doctors appointment in an hour and a half. He fixed the brakes for a very reasonable price and also drove down the street to get a window wiper blade that was specific to my car. Great service. Love them. I just spent the last five years with another mechanic, they were always wanting me to spend mega bucks on items such as transmission flush. My boyfriend had a clunking noise in his mr2 for years and no other shop has been able to find the cause. He took it to the dealership as well as countless other shops. This review is based on my experience with renting a Uhual. I always associate going to auto centers with grumpy workers from my pass experiences, so I wasn't sure how they would react if I needed to rent a Uhual last minute without a reservation on it. Luckily, there was one available and the worker was kind enough to help us out with the tools we needed for a successful moving process! He was even kind enough to have us return the Uhual the next morning without an extra charge. I would definitely recommend this place to any of my friends or family who happen to be moving! An awful service center and Wallys attitude was outrageous. I was new to the neighborhood and was referred by a neighbor for a smog check. The vehicle is rarily driven. Wally wrote up the paper work took the vehicle in to his service bay and performed the test. His pre-test revealed a check engine light was on. He did not warn me that the vehicle would fail with this service light on and proceeded. He admitted he saw the light on when he pulled it in. I assumed that once I took the vehicle to a dealer and had this condition corrected that a retest could be performed. His response was that i would get a 30% discount for the retest.
