I suggested that we go on holiday in October, when both of our work commitments are likely to lighten up. This seemed to be quite a straightforward idea until my friend explained that there was no-one to take care of her mother whilst we would be away. Her mother had a stroke about 6 months ago, and although having made an astonishingly good recovery still needs help with laundry, shopping, collecting her pension and other basic tasks. She also needs to visit the doctor and collect her prescription whilst we would be away. My immediate thought was that we obviously couldn't go, and it was only when I was walking down Whitchurch Road last week that I noticed Greenbanks Homecare Ltd office for the first time... funny that isn't it...!?! I'd never noticed it before! Anyway, it transpires that they can provide cover for all of my friend's mothers needs, and not only that... they are going to arrange for a qualified hairdresser to come out on the day that she needs to go to the doctors. As well as being a driver, she will set Josie's hair as well!

It is located…read morenear Highfields free church, which is situated on Monthermer Road, the home is based within the Crwys road and Cathays area. It is a day care centre for old people who can really no longer take care of themselves. Although some other older people have gone for the company and food for a different environment. Voulenteers apart from one or two people who help run the place and work as a Chef cooking food for everyone. The food is what you will need the money for really. The prices are brilliant though for they are cheap being under £5 per person, per meal. It isn't a place to sleep in, it is just a place for the older folk to come and be looked after and it is somewhere for them to socialize. This company hasn't been running for very long and Highfields free church have only recently become involved in helping run it and organise it. I would recommend it to all older people wanting a day out and to be looked after for a cheap price.
