Since then I have used Gary & Sons for any needs I have had at my house from installation of zero clearnace fire places. Central Air Conditioning, which included running new duct work, installation of an above ground pool, and yearly maintenace checks on all the equipment to keep the warranty in force. Garys was the only company in the Dubois Area that would even give me a price quote on doing residental service. Everyone else in the area seems to only want the commercial business. Garys has always been professional, efficient, neat in the approach from quote to completiong. I would recommend them to anyone with confidence that they will do a great job as they always have

I knew I was overpaying at $7800 for their bottom of the line furnace, but I was drawn in by their promise of excellent service. I bought their maintenance program which is supposed to get me a discount on parts and priority service scheduling. In Feb 2026, we had a power surge that took out our furnace. It wasn't covered under their warranty due to the power surge. Frustrating, but certainly understandable. Gary & Sons came out to diagnose it same day (Friday). The repair tech installed a control board that immediately shorted out again, and he determined it also needed a blower motor. Those needed to be ordered, which were supposed to be overnighted (Saturday). I heard nothing from them on Saturday, so I called again and was told the parts didn't get ordered until Saturday, and they were expected Monday. No word from them Monday until I called to check what the status was in the afternoon. I was told they should arrive Tuesday. I was only then told the repair would be $1809.67. Prior to this point I had not been given an estimate. I asked for a breakdown by parts and labor and was denied. My request to speak with a supervisor was also denied. I was told other customers have asked for a breakdown of parts and labor and it has never been honored, which seems like an odd practice given they claim members are supposed to get a 15% discount on parts. By looking at repair parts online, I estimated parts to be around $800-900, so the balance was labor. The $68 member discount on my estimate didn't seem to jive with their advertised discount, but again, how could I resolve this when I wasn't allowed to talk to anyone else? I was also sent an invoice for $688 for the original diagnostic service call and control board that the tech replaced and immediately shorted out. So all said and done, Gary & Sons wanted $2,497.67 to fix my brand new furnace. When parts did arrive Tuesday around 3pm, I asked for them to be installed same day since again I was supposed to get priority scheduling and Gary & Sons advertises 24x7 emergency service. "No" again. On March 27, I called to address the past due invoice of $688. Harry returned my call, and asked what I thought was fair to settle the outstanding invoice. I told him I was happy to pay for the diagnostic service visit, but not for the control board the technician shorted. He claimed that I wouldn't have been charged for 2 control boards if I had done the repair with them. That was impossible to know given the $2500 in invoices and quotes and their refusal to let me speak to a supervisor. He said the diagnostic call should have been $608 (they hadn't discounted the parts), and he needed $300 to call it complete. Given their tech ruined the board, and we were talking about a furnace I just paid $7800 for that seemed a bit outrageous. However, to be done with Gary & Sons I am happy to oblige. If you want to be overcharged at every turn and get lack-luster second-rate service, Gary & Sons is the company for you. Otherwise, there are lots of companies out there that will take far better care of you.

He came and did his service very well and worked very hard. He cleaned out our furnace thoroughly and replaced the thermocoupler but still something was preventing it from staying lit. Turned out it needed a new gas valve which was outside the normal system which is very old. The day was late and he told me that it needed a part that wasn't available in our area so James went out of his way to another town to get that part and returned in the same evening and worked into the night to make sure our furnace was working fine again. Its so good to feel the radiators hot again! Thankyou James for a job well done and a price that we could afford ! I highly recommend James at American AirFlow for any emergency need as well as other services he performs. When I replace my old system I plan on having James come and install one of his newer energy efficient systems so next season will be even better.

Had trouble getting anyone to answer the phone until I called American Airflow-- the woman who answered was very nice and was familiar with the property. She set up the appointment, no problem. James Cosper was the friendly technician who showed up promptly for the showing, and immediately got to work. He went through everything, top to bottom, and took photos. Within a few days he had emailed me a report, complete with photos for reference. Overall, a very pleasant experience, I found this service to be very professional and reliable.

Luckily they had one at the shop ($1300 which I agreed to pay) but not worries thus far. He wrapped up and moved along... the next day, I was concerned about the pricing and asked a local HVAC distributor about the price on the motor and they priced it at $200.... Seriously? 600 % mark up? Looks at the invoice and realized I was charged for 4 hours... my phone log and cameras show he called when he left his previous job at 3:29pm and left my house at 6:30pm. When I called the office the next day they needed to check on a few things but would call me back. Their response: part was another end model and was therefore more expensive. 6-1/2 times more expensive? I have to admit he did tell me it was expensive. As far as the rake, they informed me that they build door-to-door meaning from when he leaves his last appointment to whenever he either clocks out or goes to his next appointment so I was charging an additional hour for most likely his travel home. Sour grapes? Maybe but do yourself a favor. Get the details of the pricing before you commit to anything.

He came back tightened one end of what he knocked loose. Next day more water. They sent another guy who determined the wrong end was tightened and needed the other end tightened of what was knocked loose. Not one issue was had until their workers showed up. I got a bill for the furnace service which I paid on time. Weeks later I got a bill for $68 for their second appearance at my Home where they came to fix something their men messed up. I left two-three voicemails at the office with no return call. Got a call from their office in January which I told their office lady what happened and I had tried to call multiple times with no call back and wondered why I had to pay for their mess up. She assured me she would take care of it understood and not to worry about the bill. Today I got a letter from a local collections office for the same bill she said was taken care of. I expect an explanation. But shocker no call back. This isn't the first issue we have had with this company. The lack of professionalism, organization, attention to detail and honest work is disgusting.
