Unfortunately we saw Vickie Sanderson who "tended" to my 14 year old daughter. First, though we…read moresubmitted the paperwork online through the portal and it stated "completed" the therapist said it didn't go through so we had to redo all of it. Ok; sometimes things don't work out online so we pushed through the session. As I filled out the paperwork, she filled us in on client-therapist disclosures, etc. After all the technical information,I let my daughter have her first (and only because we are never going back) session.....20 minutes later I see my daughter walking out of the office. I asked: "what happened? Aren't the sessions an hour long?" My daughter said: "she never told me how she manages her appointment, goals, homework, or how long her sessions are. She did almost all of the talking and did EMDR on me with all the lights on which hurt my eyes (the room is very bright)." Wait.....EMDR on the FIRST SESSION on a 14 year old??????? She didn't establish rapport, trust or did any ground work besides: "on a scale from 1 to 10, how hard is it dealing/is the pain?" My daughter was scared to do EMDR but Vickie STILL went on after a very brief explanation. Hypnosis and EMDR need more than just a brief explanation AND a first session! I called Vickie right away telling her how disappointed we both are and wondered if she thinks that just because my daughter is 14 she thought to take a short cut or not dedicate a full hour of her time! So far, no returned call from her. She doesn't make a person feel comfortable, and certainly doesn't seem concerned in truly empathizing with her client!

The grounds are beautiful and I got to go surfing with professional surfers because of the program. The classes are super informational, and they have a lot of resources to connect you to AA, NA and sponsors. I feel like a completely different person than when I first got here. The Camp saved my life.

Setting is beautiful but in my experience, drugs were missed in numerous searches, campers routinely left campus, sneaking over the hill at night to have sex or get loaded. Because of their despicably low pay for the wonderful medical and tech staff, turnover is constant. I felt unsafe and when my concerns were voiced, only my incredible case manager, Cindy, advocated for me. I had legitimate threats made against my life by a patient who also sexually harassed and physically chased me and was kicked out. I was not allowed to call the police, and only after having my case manager insist that I be permitted to, I was told by Scott's Valley police stated that "this happens there all the time, they like to handle things internally." Not only that, but the same client was then permitted to join my IOP group. I was then told the only thing I could do was choose to leave. My PTSD which has been under control for years was completely activated and I was dismissed by person after person and felt completely alone and disregarded. I've attached a photo of how they arrange bedding for you if you come down with Covid, which half of the camp had when I was there. Unbelievable and just so so so disappointed in The Camp. Tiffany Baker only cares for her male clients who she embarrassingly flirts with. I was also sexually harassed and groomed by a male tech, and when I came to staff I had no course to rectify it and was made to feel as if it was my fault, while this happened in detox. You will not be respected or considered while here, as you are only a financial gain for this money based endeavor. I cannot stress enough that though there are some EXCELLENT people working at the camp, including the medical team, therapists and some case managers, the program directors and alumni coordinators are completely unfit and uncaring. Never have I felt less empathy and care than when I placed trust in them and had it betrayed tenfold. Do not come here if you are hoping for healing.

My first appointment with Michelle convinced me that this time it was going to be different and it has been. As the other reviewer said, she is present, relevant and challenging. Her wide range of knowledge, personal and professional experiences and the Enneagram approach to self awareness has been such a blessing and encouragement. She can reach the unreachable. It's not a quick journey, and there have been some detours, but with Michelle's patient and trustworthy guidance, I know I will continue to identify and dismantle the self defeating attitudes, perceptions and habits and learn to live in the present, appreciating each day to the fullest. And to the previous reviewer: Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your experience with Michelle. It was your review that prompted me to take one more chance on seeking help. I owe you a debt of thanks.

She is nothing short of AMAZING. Talking with her is as comfortable as talking to your best friend. She has a way of helping you feel normal no matter what the issue. She is warm, engaging, supportive and doesn't hesitate to "slap you upside the head" when you need it. She is truly a gifted therapist and you ALWAYS feel as though you have her full attention. She can remember things I told her 10 years ago and uses it to show patterns of behavior of which I was unaware. Her advice has been invaluable in my life and I have experienced great personal growth while working with her. Her commitment to continuing education allows her to continually bring new modalities into her practice and offer more to clients. Dr. Franklin is by far the best therapist in Northern California. I wish I could give her more that 5 stars !!!!!
