Yet another coffee shop that I just had to check out!…read more Location: unspectactular, as it's set in a street with 3 coffee shops right next to it, but still in the middle of town and it's a nice spot to sit for a while, either outside in the sun or inside in the roomy shop itself. It's brand new and the design is modern and cute, the counter makes up one entire side of the shop though. Food: The name, when translated, means 'Sweet & Spicy', so it's only logical that you can get a variety of different food here. On the one side of the counter you can get savoury (Italian) snacks like Tramezzini & Panini, while the other side will satisfy your sweet tooth with plenty of cake and other sweet things. I only tried the cheesecake so far, and it was ok...not perfect (because I didn't make it myself), but good! ;) The cake fell a bit into pieces when the guy behind the counter moved it onto my plate, but he swiftly gave me a discount, which was pretty neat... Coffee: Decent, nothing special, sadly. They do offer anything you could wish for in coffee specialities, but they taste just like every other (chain) coffee shop down the road, and they definitely have to practise a bit more on how to use the coffee machine. Shame, really! Service: Slow! I am sure they will get faster as soon as they get the hang of it - opening weeks are always chaotic and confusing - but I sincerely hope they manage to do so soon, because I am already fed up of waiting 5 minutes in front of the counter just because it takes so long to get my coffee done... Bottom line: * Acceptable food & coffee * a bit too slow and chaotic * nothing spectacular, just another coffee shop in a road full of them * They definitely need to try harder!

Welcome to the jungle! Would you like some tea?…read more Right in the middle of Erlangen, just two minutes off the main high street, you can find this little gem. And by little gem I mean a ridiculously huge garden in the middle of a café. The Teehaus is basically exactly that, a gorgeous little café that sells dozens of different sorts of tea! And coffee. And breakfast. And cake. And sandwiches. And, well...lots of different stuff really. But the important part about it, is the location itself. Upon entering, you can find rooms to your left and right, usually weirdly devoid of people. But walk through the hallway and you'll find yourself standing in a conservatory of sorts, with lots of tables and lots of great atmosphere. But it's the huge jungle of a garden that makes this one of the best places in town. The food is delicious, and wonderfully cheap. The tea is great. The coffee...sadly not so much. But that is acceptable, for once, considering it's a TEA house after all. The staff could do with a smile on their faces, but they're attentive and nice enough ;) Bottom line: * gorgeous location * amazing variety of tea * delicious food * just don't try the coffee ;) * the garden!!!!

We were visiting the Erlanger Teehaus some days ago…read more This place exists since a long time and the furniture and surroundings are showing exactly that. It seems that the Erlanger Teehaus has not been renovated since the early 80´s and the waiters are mostly unmotivated students. The menu cards seem to have been printed early 2000 and need a fresh up (dirty, torn). The whole place does not look too clean. The number of different teas you can order here - definitely a good thing The cakes and other food - felt to be mediocre to me and not of great quality. If it stays like it is. - nope.

Not bad! Up until…read morenow Erlangen only had one decent place to grab a cup of Joe (Amir), but this new place definitely adds some additional well needed flavor. If you're a local you've probably tried their store in Nuremberg, so the name is nothing new. The whole place has a very nicely designed industrial look to it and actually looks amazing - by far the nicest looking coffeeshop in the region! Taste-wise it's very third-waveish, different types of beans for every taste (they had three types to choose from) and a large range of beverage types to choose from. The only real downside is the price, which reminds me a lot of Starbucks, although you get a much smaller cup for the same amount. Is it worth it? You tell me.

Tourists eating ice cream in 80+ degree heat, under the baking sun during the great European heat wave of 2025. I'm not supposed to eat ice cream to limit my blood sugar spikes, but with the amount of walking we were doing, that was not a problem. Ordered two plain cones of single scoop sorbert at 2 euros each. The employees serving us laughed at my broken German, clearly understanding English. The two lady servers smiled and gladly posed for a picture, as this was their chance to appear internationally on Yelp. We found a place to stand in the shade, as the sorbet hit the spot during one of the hottest days of our Viking Grand European River tour.

After all, a walk through Erlangen is boring as &€@&, compared to the rich history and many sights in Nuremberg or Bamberg. But after the ill choice to spend an afternoon here, why not try some local ice cream? Upon approaching one of the waiters with the intent of getting seated he immediately turned around and briskly left. Ok, so we seated ourselves. When nobody came to take our order I tried to gesture another young waiter (who was desperately trying to grow a beard) to take our order. Unfortunately he was too distracted ogling the scantily clad young women in their summer dresses passing by to notice me waving my hand from 6 feet away. Who can blame him... hormones... So: the service has much room to improve. Eventually an older gentleman took our order and the ice cream was delicious! There are also breakfast and warm lunch choices on the menu, and the pictures look yummy. My ice cream plate looked as pictured in the menu. The waffle was a bit bland, but ok. Prices are okay for what you get, no complaints there. The tables were very close to each other, so don't discuss anything you don't want others to hear. I now know the story of the woman's life that was next to us, as reported to her BFF, including job, boyfriend and other juicy info I wish I had not overheard. But it would have been awkward to comment, right? Maybe she thought I wouldn't understand German, lol. Finally a warning: be prepared to walk here, parking is at least half a mile away, and parking spots nearby are scarce. It's apparently part of the city's master plan to drive (pun intended) motorists and their associated business put of town. Many boarded up businesses are Testaments to that. So enjoy a stroll through the city while there are still businesses left. Or better yet, take your business to Nuremberg or Bamberg, both of which are charming and well worth a visit.
