Exploring the OBX. Stopped for a sandwich and drink. The staff were very friendly and efficient and were able to handle the crowded place. The food was good and served quickly. Nice beer selection which was served nicely chilled. Limited liquor selection but all you need for a nice summer drink-vodka, rum and tequila. read more

This place is advertised as a tiki bar. Total bait and switch. Tiki masks are the only qualifier it seems. There are no cocktails. Just beer. They are on the waterfront, and they have no seafood. Just assorted stuff from a panini press and hotdogs. There are more, and better, options at a carnival. They dont even have bathrooms. Unless you're the kind of white trash that thinks a Corona is exotic, skip this place. read more

I got a hotdog, chips and a side of the island coleslaw. The hotdog was skinny and sad. The island slaw has four little pineapples on it and tasted fine but not great. My friend got chips and the smoked fish dip for $8 and was not worth the price. Definitely would not recommend for food. read more

Friendly Fun spot in a super location. Pork Quesadilla was huge & Delish! So cheesy and full of flavor. Husband had Pork with slaw on Cuban roll and he enjoyed it very much.I had a bite and it was wonderful. Pets welcome outside and the view from the deck is so peaceful. We stopped in while waiting for the ferry to Ocracoke Island. The owner was quite hands-on, telling patrons that she opened for the Thanksgiving holiday but was otherwise closed for the season. The menus were marked up to reflect what was actually available and the drink list was verbal. Not being hungry, I opted for the Pirate's Punch - a mixed drink of vodka, sake and sweet/sour mix in a takeaway cup for $8. Not cheap but a rather nice and refreshing drink. The decor of the Wreck is that of a Tiki Bar - lots of kitsch on the walls, TVs above the bar and music playing in the background. There are actually 2 bars - one at chest level and the other at waist level. There are also several tables with seating for perhaps 20. All told, the Wreck is a fun Tiki Bar - a nice way to while away time waiting for the ferry. read more

Stopped in last night with a group of 12 for happy hour, dinner, and sunset. Charlie was very accomodating with bar snacks and apps even though the kitchen was closed. Came back for lunch today, and had excellent panini's and quesadillas. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and cold drinks-have the sangria!! Highly recommend if you are ever in the area! Stopped off here on the way to Ocracoke Island for a beer & food. Located in the middle of a shopping outlet, this is the only bar / restaurant I could find and was Tiki themed. Their staff was lacking numbers and they got hit with a major rush. They were obviously blindsided and frantic, but handled it fine. My pulled pork tacos are great and was fairly priced. They were also saying their nightlife was pretty fun with dancing, music, etc although I probably won't be able to check it out. This was such a cute little place to have lunch before getting on the ferry to go to Ocracoke! The lady working there was very nice and suggested we get the tuna dip as an appetizer because it was fresh and made that morning, it did not disappoint! I got the bbq hawaiin quesadilla and my boyfriend got a panini and they were both delicious. The sangria was great too. Went in today after reading all the advertisements in the local magazines. We were sorely disappointed . First they were out of all draft beer except one. Secondly, much of the food was not available- no chili, etc. After they served our drinks, they told us the internet was out so we had to pay cash and there was an ATM next door. We said we would pay in cash. We ordered the quesadillas and the pulled pork. We asked to sit outside and they said they would bring the food out. When we got up to move outside, they said we had to pay before they would make our food. What? Who does that? We gave the waitress a $50 bill. She did not give us change. When she brought the food out, there were no napkins or silverware (plastic) - nothing! The food was ok - average at best. I had to go back in for the check, which I had to ask for and could only look at and not take. Do your self a favor and do not waste your time or money . read more

OMG! Can someone 40 years old say that?? We stopped here to grab a quick bite before we got on the ferry to Ocracoke. We ordered 4 hot dogs with chips and four drinks. We also ordered 2 soft pretzels but the were out of them. After 25 minutes our waitress checked with the cook for our order who directed the waitress to get her own from the Hot Dog roller behind the bar. Duh! Then the waitress took 15 minutes to get the hot dogs from the machine to our table!! Meantime a table set before us asked for thier food after waiting 40 minutes. Note, they were the only other customers in the place. The waitress stated that they only had one cook and there food was almost ready. The people said they would pay and leave. The "cook" (probably the owner) came out and began arguing with the family about how long they were waiting and slammed the kitchen door in disgust. A family of 10 had just walked in witnessed the exchange and I could tell they didn't know what to do. The waitress the asked them, "are you in a rush? It'll take an hour to an hour and half to get your food". Note that these were the only people in the place. They smartly got up and left. Stopped in for a quick appetizer and drink so that we could relax overlooking the sound. This place is small and had a few tables outside which is what we were looking for. We were greeted at the door by this nice gentleman who went over the beers and the menu, didn't judge as my kids explored the place and were asking him questions. He was the nicest guy! We ended up with a few beers and he said he'd bring food out to us. We got the chicken quesadillas and a grilled cheese for the kids. The naming of this place is apt. Me and my fellow compatriots attended this establishment after a long day of shopping at every gallery store in N.C. When we stopped in we were greeted quickly which is the only thing that was quick our entire visit. We went to order drinks when my one friend was informed they didn't have tonic water (not out, never will have). If only we had known this was warning number one of the experience. After she took our drink order she informed us that they were put of pork. Upon further review it seemed 1/3 of the menu was pork (I really wanted the Cuban). The aesthetic was nice. Our food took a long, but not unreasonable amount of time though our server did inform us she was the only one. When it came time to pay our bill was 61.50 and we handed her $22 dollars and 2 credit cards asking if we could use the cash first and then split the difference. She proceeded to scoff and ask if we wanted individual checks. Taken aback I kept my composure and asked if that would be easier for her. After the worlds longest eyeroll that would make any teenage girl jealous she said it's fine whatever and took our payment. When she came back we saw that our two cards were both swiped for 37.50. Now I'm not a math whiz, but 37.50 + 37.50 + 22.00 does not equal 61.50. She claims to not have known how to just split the 37.50 in half and thought it was only going on one card. In retrospect, I should've known what I was getting into when I walked into a bar with no bathroom but I unfortunately did not heed the warning signs. Never been happier with a sandwich, and great beer! This is a small place, I've been a few times. There are a ton of TVs and whatever game you're looking for - if it's available, they'll put it on for you. I got the Cuban- a great sandwich. The servers were extremely nice & welcoming, and the laid-back vibe of the staff didn't keep them from bringing us our food quickly- and my beer was never empty! Speaking of beer, I make it a point each time I visit Hatteras to come by a few times during the week so I can try all the beers they have on tap (a difficult task, they're always changing). I have no doubt they have the best draft beer selection in Hatteras! Not fine dining, but BY FAR the best place to grab a beer (or four) and a panini- all at a great value. this is the kinda place where it might be better if i didn't write a review. admittedly we were vacationing off season and there was nothing at all wrong with our service. the young woman who served us was attentive and friendly but the place is advertised as a tiki bar and it's just a dive that serves beer and a handful of mixed drinks. since it was 10 o'clock we didn't eat so i can't speak to whether the food is good but i'll guess that it is. there just wasn't any drink here that you couldn't get at Friday's or Applebee's. on the other hand, maybe that's fine as there isn't a chain restaurant within an hour of Hatteras. but, there were more exotic beverages served at the Sandbar and Grille a few miles up the road. read more

We were looking for a highly rated seafood restaurant nearby after returning from Ocracoke via ferry. With the help of Google, this restaurant was recommended. We were quickly seated and informed they were out of meatball parmesan. Hmmm...surprise, no seafood on the menu. My husband chose the tacos...surprise, they were out of those too. We finally got our food about 30 minutes later. After receiving our food, we didn't see our server again until time to get the check. The corn chips in the nachos were stale. The "wrecked Italian" was good. If you're not drinking alcohol, do not expect much attention from your server. It came time to pay the bill and we were informed credit card machine was not working properly. We were directed to a nearby ATM. We sent our teenage daughters to get the cash at ATM and paid our bill at their return. If you're not drinking alcohol, don't bother. No seafood here. read more

I live in Nags Head, and I love getting away from the main island and take mini vacations down to Hatteras. We love staying in the Hatteras Landing Condos and walking over to the Wreck. The food is awesome, the service is great, and the views are incredible. They have live music on wed. nights, and the bar has a great atmosphere. I love just sitting out on the private picnic tables drinking a beer and just relaxing as the sun sets. Great times! read more
